    pavel bure

    wow.

hearing some *very* interesting stuff on the radio
  • edited April 2009
    just expanding on ^

its all but official, pavel bure is coming back to the canucks, been rehabbing for a long time and apparently is gonna suit up for the canucks

guess now we know why gillis didnt spend to the cap

gonna be weird to see him back but *hopefully* he still has half decent wheels so he can do something in the lineup (if he makes it lol)
  • edited April 2009
on second thought this is prob a giant elaborate april fools joke lol
  • edited April 2009
No wayyyy is Pavel Bure coming back...I've been hearing that rumor for years and it's never had one ounce of truth to it...I wish
  • edited April 2009
yea i doubt it bure is done for his leg is screwed up and i bet that it's just an april fool's hoax. If only we had the bure of old we would be killer awesome :) NUx for Cup 2009!
  • edited April 2009
yeah they had me for a min there hehe im so gullible
was a really good one tho, bure was in on it and everything
  • edited April 2009
    lol nice
  • edited April 2009
i hate it when they give us nux fans false hope :P Bure would have been awesome :P
  • edited April 2009
I wonder though, how good would a quasi-mobile Bure be on the power play in todays game? I'm sure he can still glide around with one knee, and he should still have that rocket of a shot...
  • edited April 2009
the only thing that made him what he was, was his speed, without it, hes toast
shootout specialist at best lol, no use in the playoffs

playing ducks tonite, they have been playing really well as of late, and first game back after a long road trip for us

a few more great games from luongo and he *might* sneak into the vezina finalists maybe?
  • edited April 2009
I think the only argument that supports Lu is our record with and without him. I really don't think hes played enough games to be considered though. Its really too bad, he was playing so well before he got hurt too. I sure hope you're right though =D

PS: Someone should show Ward some love, so heres to his 30 some odd wins and his stellar play as of late
  • edited April 2009
yeah its a long shot for luongo
lots of guys deserve consideration, ward has played real well too
pekke rinne is another guy, he should b calder finalist for sure

i still stand by my prediction of tho of mason/thomas/nabby
and my playoff predictions of cbj/dal/edm isnt lookin too good lol
  • edited April 2009
1 out of 3 aint bad!
Who did I pick, CBJ EDM and MINN? 1/3 here too ooot!
  • edited April 2009
not canuck related but check out

    http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=273526

came down to alex and wheeler on this one for me, i voted ovechkin
  • edited April 2009
It was Wheeler and Havlat for me, and I'd probably vote Wheeler. Dogged determination. Note the nice stick save on the initial shot by whoever was in net for the Blues.
I didn't go with Ovvie because I feel Price let in a softy. However nice and creative the initial play was, if Price had stopped that like he should have, it wouldn't be here.
Same kinda goes along the same line with Kovalchuk, except I'd consider his more amazing since he was clearly tripped.

and I'm contempt to think anything spectacular from Ryan Smyth that is non-tip in related is accidental =D

condolences to taylor pyatt for his loss today :( I know how it must feel to lose someone you love. Canuck nation supports you Taylor!
  • edited April 2009
    sad indeed
5 ppl in that taxi, 3 still critical i think
  • edited April 2009
At least theres no back to back games in the playoffs eh Flames fans!
  • edited April 2009
right back at it tomorrow night vs the avs

i didnt like the play by play today, they were really sloppy and that bugged the hell outta me lol
  • edited April 2009
eh I dont think its sloppy. Its more mental lapses at crucial times that led to costly goals. You dont put up 46 shots by being sloppy.
  • edited April 2009
i meant the play by play commentary by the cbc guys

like when canucks were in the oiler zone, a forward passed back to d and it hopped over the stick to the neutral zone and the cbc guy said the oilers cleared the puck down the ice <- thats just blatantly poor commentary

the nucks played ok, just not well enough
  • edited April 2009
oh yah I misread what you said, I hated the commentary tonight too. Mark Lee, what a fucking joke. He missed 2 delayed penalties that I noticed, called Daniel "Daniel Sundin" (seriously, die in a grease fire on this one, they've been in the league for 8 or 9 years now)
Although, gotta admit, Crawford is getting better and better as the colour guy
  • edited April 2009
wishful thinking, but i hope we get jim hughston to do the play by play for some of the canuck games
maybe if we get on a run and the other canadian teams get knocked out

i have a feeling he'd be doing the (east) montreal games for the first round and will be with them until they get bounced
  • edited April 2009
yah pretty much what you said. Hes being groomed to replace ol monotone himself
  • edited April 2009
    pretty sad game tonite
  • edited April 2009
    god, fucking Dive's Homers
I watched the game off a stream online and the Avs broadcast had the better quality (compared to TSN stream, since I dont have TSN the channel) and wow are they retarded...
During the play, they were talking about Keith Primeau donating his brain to science because of recurring concussion problems, one of the announcers said he tried to donate his brain to science but they wouldn't take it *both announcers chuckle and have a little laugh* then the original announcer continues and says nothing like knowing its just too big and people won't learn any.. and then he kind of trails off realizing what he had just said, and went back to saying something about the game (I shit you not, this happened)

Complaining about officiating in back to back games kinda suck, but heres what was missed tonight:
    - Bieksa getting high sticked late in the first behind the Canucks net (last minute)
    - Right before the Avs 3rd goal when it was 4 on 4 and 2-0, puck was clearly shot straight out, no penalty called on what could have been a 4 on 3 power play with a short 5 on 3 in the end. Big potential game changer here
    - Late in the 3rd, when it was 4-1 and Canucks on the pp, Burrows gets his stick slashed and it snapped in half, of course no call
  • edited April 2009
it's the refs... they feel sorry for the avs being the worst team in the west so they will tend to favour them a bit more. It's ok just hope La can beat the flames tomorrow night and we'll see a first place showdown on tuesday. If the nucks lose that then the flames will take 3rd.

i watched a couple of games off the av's feed this year and it was really weird cause they would always have some side conversation going then briefly comment on the game, and be back to chit chat
    that was their style apparently

just a few notes about the game/team in general
-defensive coverage/lapses the last few games have been brutal, but i think this can be remedied, seems more like focus/effort, so leads me to my next pt

-still think the team is 'fine' despite the last few losses, im not overly concerned (i dont even think we need to win against calgary, just show up and make it competitive at least)

-sundin is not gonna get any better, its obvious we've seen the max of his abilities, so ppl that hope he can 'turn it up a notch' for the playoffs, will probably get disappointed
he does bring certain things to the table like face off and a big body in the cycle game (not to mention a decent #2 C option to stabilize our line), but its obvious hes lost at least a step and a lot of his past glory is gone

-the nw title is still up for grabs, we've played outta our minds going at a .750+ clip (until the last few games) and still we're neck and neck @ this point with 3 games to go; just goes to show how difficult it was a position for us to come back to win the title when we were discussing it a while ago
we still have the better 'matchups' and calgary has back/back gm's so its still bodes well
