Yeah Luongo hasn't had a shutout in a while so it was nice to see him get one. Looks like our third line is breaking out too. Bernier, Raymond, and Pyatt have started to be more effective the last few games. Wellwood too which is nice to see our 3 lines can all chip in with points

that is just embarassing, how the hell do you get scored against on a delayed penalty for the other team? looks like the canucks won't be winning this one.
• edited March 2009
lol they are getting smoked bad
• edited March 2009
not the best game lol
hope this is a wakeup call to not take teams for granted

anyone see this
and can you believe hes getting suspended?
• edited March 2009
But.. did it hit the post?
• edited March 2009
well it looked like it
and the first one was clearly a save, and the goal off the rebound was counted
• edited March 2009
side bet on number of games suspended?
• edited March 2009
He had reason to be pissed, the first goal was absolutely ricockulous. That ref needs to be canned, he's either on the take or a complete moron.
• edited March 2009
maybe rest of playoffs suspended at the least, and prob some reg season games next year

downey had a more serious case and was dealt a pretty severe penalty (granted any of his history being taken into acct) but abuse of official in any capacity shouldnt be tolerated imo

Even if Rask was right on both of those being non-goals, his behaviour was simply unacceptable. I'd be very very very surprised if he goes unpunished for this.
• edited March 2009
Yeah, I would suspend him regardless if they were goals or not. He's a professional athlete and needs to act like one.
• edited March 2009
a short suspension would be acceptable, but making him sit out the playoffs for the ref's huge fuckup....no way
• edited March 2009
refs make good/bad calls, its just part of the game, if the ref did make a bad call, the league's governing body will take care of it

as a player to not control your emotions and endangering other players/fans/refs b/c of that, u should get the book, no exceptions
• edited March 2009
Also professional athletes are role models for young fans whether they like it or not. I'm all for a long suspension, maybe 9-12 games
• edited March 2009
well the fans actually cheered for him lol,
and hes just showing passion for the sport, he didnt cause any harm
a long suspension definitely wouldn't make sense when you compare it to all the stupid hits some players make that actually endanger others on the ice, most of these get overlooked and you get a couple of penalty minutes
• edited March 2009
and if that stick happened to hit a player or ref in the face, then what? You can't suspend people based on what the result was, you suspend them based on the action.
• edited March 2009
Just about all the long suspensions I can think of in the NHL are actions that are considered "non-hockey plays" (think Bertuzzi, Boulerice, Simon, McSorely) or plays that are with intent to injure another player (Downie, all 4 above)
I think if nothing else, throwing a goalie stick like that is definitely not a hockey play
And I agree with what icerider said, you dont suspend base on results, you suspend base on action (think both Boulerice and Simon, neither of the victims were seriously hurt or missed significant playing time)
• edited March 2009
and regarding Simon, I was thinking the two hand chop to Holloweg's face, not the stamp he took on Ruutu

anyone catch the nux coyotes game? that was ugly... What a breakdown by the nucks..Hopefully they rebound against Dallas on Tuesday.

i cant believe the media made such a big deal about luongo's comments in the afterhours segment on cbc sat nite

i caught it live and i didnt even think twice about what he said, i thought it was just honest and even though it may come across negatively on print, i doubt that was his intention

public is so used to hearing cliches, a lil honesty and they rip the guy for wanting to leave or somethin
• edited March 2009
What did Luongo say?

edit: Nvm, found it. I know how to google.
• edited March 2009
Nothing wrong with what Luongo said, he wants to win a Stanley Cup, big deal.

@dallas this afternoon, note the 530 start

we've been kinda crappy on the road, and cal/chi have gone back to their winning ways, so we need to keep pace if we want to make a push

Kesler was awesome last night against dallas :) i love the part where hordichuk ran turco and hit him against the boards... Great game yesterday and it was nice to see our power play work for once :P
• edited March 2009
yeah was kinda expecting the team to come out sluggish and seemed like it for the first few mins, but managed to turn the tide once they tied it up

and that hit on turco was hilarious, he didnt seemed too bothered by it, but was funny to see
• edited March 2009
If Turco plays out of his crease like he does, he deserves to be treated like a defenceman/forward!
