CHAIN TEXTS: FML!

edited March 2009 in General
We've all heard of chain mail, but what about chain texts?

They're equally annoying, if not more so because some people get charged for texts. Anyways, today I get a text that some 3 women will be killed at walmart for some gang initiation. I took it seriously in light of whats been happening for the last month and that the text was from a family member. I instantly forwarded to most of the ppl on my contact list and began phoning up my cousin because he works at Walmart and is usually over there working and I didn't want anything to happen to him.. he's my little cousin man! So i finally track him down, he says he doesn't have work, i take a sigh of relief and tell him to be safe.

My brother thought the texts were suspicious so he decided to check the net. Apparently its some joke/chain txt that started being sent in America around March 17, and I guess it reached Canada. So I spent $$$ texting and time calling my little cousin, worried for no reason. I was supposed to be typing my essay which I had been writing down on paper for about a week. Now the papers due in half an hour and I still have 3500+ words to go. FML!

If you were taking it seriously... wouldn't the first logical thing to do is to call cops?

My little cousin who I grew up with and who I had sleepovers with every weekend, the one who I took swimming and karate lessons with, the one who I used to play Power rangers and cops and robbers with... he works at Walmart. The first thing running through my head is not "call the cops". The first thing i think is "JESUS, PLEASE DON'T LET HIM BE AT WORK TODAY." I've always looked out for him, and I needed to warn him asap. He's a good kid.. does well in school, athletic, helps around the house, and always at work because he wants to pay his own way. I love my cousin and my number one priority is making sure that his ass was safely as far away from Walmart as possible. You don't think about whats 'logical' when something like that happens.
