Voting is Open Online

edited March 2009 in General
Make sure you guys take a minute to log in and vote for your favorite candidates in the SFU Election. Those who get elected can make a lot of positive changes around the school, so it's important to have some good people working for the students. It's hard to know everyone in the election, so just vote for whoever you know best (Josh aka JayDub has been helping students on talkSFU for 3 years now). Not voting is like voting against the good people, because they are the ones who most need your votes...unlike the ones who care only about the votes. Good luck to all candidates involved! Hope you achieve your goals and think of even better ones after.

Voting for the SFSS elections has begun online, and will continue until 11:59pm Thursday, March 19.

To be honest, I don't know Andy Shen but after reading most of the comments said about Andy, I asked myself, why do majority of talksfuers dislike him? It is interesting! There could be some minor arguments that may be acceptable but the reality is that he is not less than any other average student. So, why do we express such preposterous comments to him? Why don't we be inclusive?

In addition, what struck me most about Andy was a thread posted by Melissa, which summarized horrible life story of Andy. For some reason, I think the thread disappeared.

Is he not like any other student who wants to do something for the betterment of the students? However we might not agree with his agenda (or say anything else), he is a man and I believe he can do something which could lead SFSS to better direction.

I believe every person is talented in one way or another, why not Andy?

I deleted that thread because 1.) Melissa Jay is the same troll as Hitler, Goering, Pedophile of Love, and "Andy Shen" (I verified this through IP checks and post pattern analysis) and 2.) Nothing in that thread is true. I do not tolerate libeling, even against the real Andy Shen.

I wonder how you categorize just mere students under such horrific list of terrorists and murderers.

I didn't intend to make you cry but at least to break barriers and accept a little change.
    I cry when it rains

I cry when i see an animal in pain
I even cry when it rains
For it is God's tears that I fear
    makes rain

I cry when i hear of the elderly suffering
    from being negected,and feeling forgotten

    Sometime i cry for no reason,because i
feel the whole world is not right
I see laughter from others,at the blind
    because they lost sight

It pains me to think some people just dont
care about the salvation of their brothers, and
    sisters

I cry when i see an animal in pain
I even cry when it rains
    It's God's tears I fear makes rain

I cry for the mothers of this world
for those who lost their child to the
    sins of this world

    I cry for the junkies,the poor,the homeless,
the brokenhearted, and I cry for you. I feel
    your pain

I cry when I see an animal in pain
I even cry when it rains
because I know its tears from above
    tears from so much pain

I cry when i see an animial in pain

i even cry when it rains
for it is God's tears that I feel makes rain,God's tears from so much pain

May God have mercy, on the souls that remain

By Hitler, Goering, Pedophile of Love, and "Andy Shen" I was refering to TalkSFU username Adolf Hitler, Hermann Goering, Pedophile of Love and "Andy Shen." Remember the troll that started the German thread?

Because it is as simple as voting in a forum poll? Just go here and follow the link that says "Executive Officers, At-Large Members and Referenda" near the bottom.

so what you're saying is.. you voted for him because a majority of talksfu'ers expressed dislike toward him.. have you actually read about his political platform? talked to other people about him? saw his debate? and what about the other candidates? if you haven't.. then what you're doing is voting based limited knowledge or close to none.. and that's arguably worse than not voting at all.. by voting someone you have no knowledge about.. or acquired that knowledge through someone else.. no one should tell a life story that is not their own since it is not their story to tell anyway..

while i will agree that every person is talented in their own ways.. talent that cannot be utilized or is not compatible with the job is talent gone to waste (now it is debatable whether Andy has such talents to begin with) but my question is.. who is going to reap the benefits (or consequences) of such mismatch? if students are unable to identify or agree with his agenda.. where does the betterment of students you speak of come from?

and i haven't even begun to talk about the question "hidden agendas" but i suspect he probably has one like the rest of them..

@Nikolai: lol.. well since i know nothing and didn't bother to go learn about these candidates.. then i'll essentially be voting with a blind eye no? i think that's the last thing the SFSS election (or any election) needs.. ill-informed or uninformed voters..
