When does Lightning Round begin? When do co-op coordinators send applications to employees? Do they wait till the dead line and then send all of applications or do they send them as they come?
Well I know if you're seeking for Summer, it'll start roughly around final exam period lol. And yeah, they send the applications on the deadline. So make sure you get your application straight before sending it because there's no second chance for it =P
usually i got contacted up to a week after submission. i had a few interviews, but, its funny though...i ended up with a CS job (which is where im cooping at right now) even though im in bio. since it was my first coop, my advisor just suggested accepting whatever came my way, and here i am, in something not in my field, lol

No offense, but your advisor sucks big time. Co-op is meant to be a learning experience, not just accepting something because you get paid. I'm in CS, and if I get tons of job offers from say, Business, I still wouldn't accept.
It looks like your satisfied, so that's good. Hopefully you still get to do something that's related.
One company from the career fair gave me an interview. I was pretty surprised because I had virtually none of the skills or knowledge they were looking for. Needless to say, it didn't go well and I didn't get the job. BObj wants to do a phone screening on Tuesday, and that's all the luck I've had with Co-op so far.
Yup, no responses either. 5 job postings on symplicity with 1 or 2 having a requirement of at least 2-3 work terms. That leaves out about 3-4 jobs with probably over 100 students in CS competing for it.
On the other hand, I only know one person who just got a placement.
a classmate of mine went over my resume she found quite a few problems that the Co op adviser missed (or ignored) I think she knows what she's talking about. As for the advisers....

My friend in compsci just got a placement. Maybe the same person? =]
IVT and Pixie, are you both starting your first work term? From what I've heard, companies just started (or end?) their fiscal year and will be able to receive their budget. This gives them a better idea on whether or not they should hire any students. Hopefully the lightning round will at least provide more luck.

fucking useless!
The advisors in the BUS department are really good :)
Was that your first interview? Any tips or advice? Pitfalls or anything that caught you off guard?
Oh, congratulations! :)
Thanks. It was my second interview. I was a little surprised I got the job considering there were a few moments during the interview where they asked questions I wasn't expecting and I had to come up with something that was clearly BS. They really grilled me on 275-ish questions, some basic Java and a bit on *nix.
@Phil: Yeah, it's BObj. I still don't know what team I'll be working with.
I thought that Lightning Round starts on April 6 but why do jobs posted on Symplicity still require a cover letter? Also, I don't receive any messages from co-op coordinators/advisors about them sending out my resume. Does it mean I wasn't added to Lightning Round or there just aren't any jobs available?

I didn't have to send a cover letter when I applied. Did you fill out the lightning round questionnaire? If not, you're probably not on it.
I checked job descriptions on symplicity yesterday and they required cover letters. I checked it today - now they don't require cover letters. So problem solved. And yes, I did fill out LR questionnaire.

I went to talk to one of the Co op people the other day. I was wearing my Metallica beanie. She told me to Ride the Lightning
LOL
Guess I won't be needing the lightning round after all.
Epic win right there. what position?
Oh, congratulations! :)

Does GPA influence your chances at all? My last semester didn't do well to my GPA.
