Problems connecting to the internet on campus

edited March 2009 in General
Does anyone else have problems connecting to the internet at school or am I just terrible with computers? It seems I always have one of two problems on my laptop. I'll either get a message telling me that my connection has been dropped or if I can ever get to the log in screen and enter my id and password it will tell me that it can't establish a secure connection to the server. Eventually it will work but its annoying to log in 10 times hoping it will eventually let me on. Any ideas?

    use sfu secure instead

SFUNET-SECURE is a recently deployed network that supports 802.11a/b/g protocols as well as full WPA2/AES encryption. It also requires an 802.1x EAP/TTLS client for authentication rather than a web portal. While an initial setup process is required, users are encouraged to use SFUNET-SECURE where possible.

    Requirements
    Windows XP SP2/Vista (PDF)
    Mac OS X (PDF)

    Setup Instructions
    Windows XP SP2 (PDF)
    Windows Vista (PDF)
    Mac OS X Tiger (PDF)
    Mac OS X Leopard (PDF)
    IPhone (PDF)

    Windows XP/Vista SFUNET-SECURE Installer (New)
A BETA one-click installer is available for Windows XP SP2/Vista users who wish to have SFUNET-SECURE automatically installed on their system. Please note: This installer is experimental only and no support is offered for it. Users who are unsuccessful with the installer will have to go through the setup documents above.
    SFUNET-SECURE-3.3.3.exe (EXE)

Some places just have really bad signals.
There was an internet 'hotspot' map of sfu before, I wonder if it's still around.
    I will search later.
