I don't think I can. I have to run a case competition all day on Saturday so I'll be very tired (and possibly hungover from the afterparty) on Sunday. btw if anyone is interested in going to Mirage on March 7 for $8, let me know... the afterparty is basically open to everyone. And I heard they have super cheap drinks ;)

    /shameless advertising

    Have fun!
OOH, Mirage is fun! $0.75 hi-balls on Thursdays and $1.99 hi-balls on Saturdays. Plus, the bartenders are hot.

Actually, I've seen more cougars in there than underage kiddies.

I prefer to most places dt. It's decent, just not a great location.

Anyhow, can anybody else confirm whether or not they're coming?

Well this Saturday, there will be smart girls from different Canadian universities at Mirage who will be partying after the case competition. Just sayin.

So, is the meetup still a go or what?

Rez is hosting a Watchmen movie night on March 8. We are heading down to Metrotown to watch "Watchmen" at time (currently) unknown. Ticket for us Rez people is only $5.

Therefore, if this meetup is not going to fly, I will be getting my ticket for "Watchmen" this Wednesday instead.

Why not? For starter, any girl, not just smart girl, should know that they should never accept drinks from anybody, period.

hmm cuz i swear every girl i know goes out of their way to get strangers to buy them drinks, then when they [strangers] expect something they come and hide behind me lol then the guys usually get pissed off
god clubbing is on this side of the ocean

What the heck is Watchman about??? From the skytrain advertisements it looks like a parody of any and all super hero comics (some guy looks like Batman, another looks like the joker, and some look like super-versions of American stereotypes) but my IAT prof mentioned it being based of a comic he really liked or something.

What happen to the whole concern about date-rape-drugs? Honestly, if you want some random prince charming (if such thing exists in clubs...) to buy you a drink and not get raped later, the best thing you can do is to watch the drink being made and never let it leave your sight.

It is a graphic novel written by famed writer Alan Moore, whose works include The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and V for Vendetta. Without giving too much away, the story took place in an alternate history US and deal with a group of ex-costumed vigilantes (I wouldn't call them superheroes because most of them, with the exception of Dr. Manhattan, lack superpower) in a period of extreme tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union.

Even though I never read the graphic novel before, I am looking forward to this movie because of the plot and that Zack Snyder (300's Director) is directing this movie.

I don't want to judge to much since I've never heard othe Watchman until now and I don't want to derail this thread, but from the trailer I saw (when I was watching another movie in a theatre) and all the advertisements, it looks incredibly tacky. I'm no IAT major (although, I was thinking of getting a minor in it but I'm already doing too much) but the advertisements look like crap. It looks like some stuff I've seen grade 8s do in my high school graphics class when they first touched photoshop.

^Don't worry about derailing this thread, it has been derailed since we started discussing Mirage and clubbing.

sadly i know quite a few girls who've been taken advantage of during and/or after clubbing and i guarantee you there was nothing but alcohol in their drinks ...
its not about price charming (i dont even know how that got thrown in there) its about being a bar star biaaatch!! lmao

when you buy a girl a drink, you buy it at the bar with her, if you randomly approach a chick with a drink in your hand, its an automatic roofie alert for them

and summerheavan you really got the wrong impression about watchman, its the greatest graphic novel ever written, and has a huge cult following

ill setup a movie date for you and student if you want
    lol kidding
    but seriously.....

The super hero nature of the characters is derivative, but not ultimately important to the story. None of them have powers (basically), and they mostly just talk or become spokesmen for commercial products. There is very little crime fighting or traditional hero business going on.

We could, I don't really mind.

Okay, and since we've had a few confirmations, and a few no-go people, I say we postpone this until March 15th. I'm going to make a new thread about it. The plans are the same though. So Desmond, go watch your damned Watchmen.

So, March 15th, Joey Tomatoes on Lougheed Hwy at 7:00pm. Sounds good?
