not sure about that prof, but so far, kin 110 with carrie matheson has been pretty good. Easy midterm, easy project (although some parts of it takes quite a bit of time), and there is quizzes out of 5 every week.
is it easier to get into the kin classes like 110 and 140 (both intersession and regular) in the summer session?
I dont have the earliest reg.date so i was thinking of signing up for two and seeing how the waitlists go, then try and get into one since i do have to take one app.sci class for my program
Hi, I'm talking Kin 110 right now (but via DE), and I have found that it is quite a bit of work for a 100 level elective class. There are some "nutrition" elements to the class (like talking about what food has what nutrient and why it's important), but predominately, it's like biology and physiology of the said nutrients. IE learning the a function, how it's synthesized, where it goes in the body (lymph, bloodstream, etc). I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone unless they're a biology major, because it should be cake only in that circumstance.
The class right now is 2 midterms (20% ea), weekly quizzes (10%), dietary analysis, which is more like pain-in-the-ass tasks like tracking what you eat, entering data into a program, re-entering the data into a PDF than an actual analysis (20%), and final exam (30%)
I can give you some sample questions on the midterm if you'd like. If you're taking it as an elective, I wouldn't recommend it.
There's a lot of memorization, so if you're not good at that, then I suggest you stay away from KIN 110. But personally, I enjoyed the class because I could apply the stuff I learned to real life.
I'd recommend Kin 110 with Matt White. I took it in the Fall, but the Intersession might be more demanding. But it was an interesting course, can actually apply it to your life. He's a pretty good teacher too. You do a Diet Analysis Project and a Tutorial Presentation which are pretty straight forward.
