yeah, had my id number and student card asked for.
was sitting around at the triple o's early in the morning (no one was around and the place had just opened).
couple of rent a cops stopped us and asked us for our ID cause we were discussing how the rcmp should upgrade their firearms from the traditional smith n wesson 5946 to new polymer constructed side arms like glocks or sigs.
guy was a straight up asshole, asked if we had weapons and attempted to search our bags, which didnt happen.
also a friend of mine got thrown out of the pub and had the rcmp called on him by campus security even though he was cooperating and leaving.
During a Zombie Militia icebreaker thing, a few people were washing pudding off their hands in the AQ pond. A security dude who was walking by told us it wasn't smart because the water was disgusting, but didn't say we couldn't. Then he joked about the engineering majors who jumped in such disgusting water.
I'm pretty sure SFU Security exists solely to annoy students.
They've asked me for my student number a few times late at night. One time I was returning a TV and they asked me for my information. I think it's a game they play. Whoever comes back from their shift with fewest student numbers has to pay for the donuts.
Maybe I'm lucky but I never had any problems with them. I went back on campus late at night to get my car and the security patrol greeted me and asked how my evening was. No harassment, no ID check, nothing.

Guy should have been nicer given that this is absolutely correct. I'm a huge Sig fan, but I'd favor H&K USP in .45 ACP. The Five seveN is pretty futuristic and nifty also but I don't know if the ammo is widely available enough for it to be a viable option.
Anyhow, the man clearly should simply have just agreed with you and moved on.

i like the USP as well but a few problems.
.45ACP is quite expensive compared to 9mm.
also, the USP is quite a bit heavier the most sigs and glocks.
the larger calibre of the USP will make it harder for successive shots to be fired off in a close grouping unless the pistol is compensated.
magazines will also weigh more raising the weight of the duty belts.
the 9mm are hollow points and the ACP will most likely result in through and throughs, possible to shoot through bad guy and hit an innocent civilian.
i would still take a sig or glock over a USP as a duty piece. the USP would be more beneficial when dealing with body armor as it will cause more damage then a standard 9mm.
if money wasnt a question (as in they got endorsements) i would say they should upgrade their old remington 12 gauge shotties to benelli x4 pistol grip shotties with skeletonized stocks. but thats just me

.45 is bulky. They should use .22LR, super cheap ammo, little chance of through-and-through.
Five Seven is mostly an ammo problem, unless you outfit the entire force with Five Seven and MP7s, it doesn't make any sense going Five Seven.
.22LR is EXTREMELY cheap ammo. however i dont think it packs enough "punch". if they did switch over to .22 i vote for them to adopt the ruger mark 3. best 22 pistol ever :P

what you afraid of me for? lol.
OT: i'm saving up for a mossy 500 series 12 gauge right now. would also like to pick up a remington 700. a ruger mark 3 and a glock 17 with compensators. that should keep me happy for a while. then save up for the big boys, smith n wesson .357 and the socom version of the M1A from springfield armory. that would make me a very happy boy
USP has a nifty recoil reducing mechanism and is pretty manageable from what I've heard. Still, firing close groups is important so I can see the issue. There are some USP variants that are chambered for 9mm, I'd still go for those. Of course if they go with the P250 they can choose shoot any type they want. Plus Sigs just look more badass than anything ever.
Or they could just be like San Fransisco and have everyone walk around with M4s strapped on (or whatever they're packing down there).
As for shotguns I sort of like the Fabarms ones but the Mossbergs with the crazy heat dispersal thingie are my favorite. I think they were desgned just to look as scary as possible, which really isn't a bad idea in a shotgun.
wtf do you guys do in your spare time to know so much about guns? I get hikin's interest as he's an avid hiker/hunter/terrorist :P what excuse do you guys have?
can u really blame security for harassing you? i mean last time i heard of an azn guy going on about guns he kinda shot up the school... just sayn JK =P

Got a box of ammo that I rarely use 9 millimeter that shine like shoes Hope the day never come when a nigga have to Let it go ont he bust and hope it ain't you
One time back in 2nd year I was taking summer classes at Burnaby Campus and one night me and my buddy came up to WMC to study for an exam. The fireworks for Celebration of Light were happening that day, and I wasn't too happy that I had to miss them because of school. After a while, we began to hear them going off in the distance (popping sounds)....at which point I decided to climb onto the roof of WMC to see if I could catch some of the action...baddd idea. I couldn't see any fireworks from there and as I was walking around on the roof security comes rushing over and starts yelling at me to get off! Obviously I didn't want to get in trouble so I ran to the opposite side of the roof (gym side) and jumped off. By the time security got around to that side I was gonne..
I thought I had gotten off scot free but somehow I dropped my phone at the scene of the crime lol. After freaking out all night, I finally walked into the security office the next day fully expecting to get arrested. Luckily all they did was lecture me about safety issues, take down my name and student number and set me free. Needless to say I was pretty relieved and I never heard from them again about that situation...ahhh good times
I saw some people who looked like they were shooting an interview on the roof last week... Then again, i saw a camera crew at blusson hall who looked like they were shooting a "professional" interview too, so it could have been related.

you tell them to fuck off and that you wont climb on the roofs again :D
Last semester I made a goal to get onto the roof of as many SFU buildings as possible before I graduate.. still working on it.
