Agreed. You have half the forum cordially inviting you to come out. It'd be a huge, disrespectful slap in the face to all of us if you didn't just show up for a little while.

agreed, and half the forum would slap student in the face for not making you feel welcome

Going back to possible meet-up location, so far we have...

IHOP at 4567 Lougheed Highway, Burnaby, BC

What not making her feel welcome? I would love to see every regulars, even IVT (What between him and the rest of you anyways?), attend a meetup. It will be great to put a face on who I chat, advice, and argue with on a daily basis.

I am going to feel very awkward in this meetup... :embarassed:

Any other suggestions for food? I don't mind IHOP, but we could try something different this time.

    Well, there are...

Red Robin at 9628 Cameron St, Burnaby, BC

Never been there before and never even heard of the place until I overheard one of my floormate's plan for the evening with her friends. Have anyone ever been to a Red Robin restaurant before and how is their food?

    Himalayan Peak at Cornerstone, SFU

Never been there before. But I heard one or two of you have been there before, how's the food. But then again, we are up here almost everyday and I doubt anyone want to have a meetup up here...

Keg at 800 Columbia Street, New Westminster

I recommended this Keg solely because, apparently, LazyGuy's book regarding Ghosts in BC said this Keg is haunted. Plus it is relatively easy to access by Transit.

    Sushi

There are just so much sushi place in the Lower Mainland that it is hard to pick one. However, I am definitely interested in Sushi as well.

Insadong at 403 North Road, Coquitlam, BC

A few of us recommended this place as a possible meet-up place before. However, we ended up picking Boston Pizza.

    lol.. pho?

kidding... sushi's good..but with such a huge gang the only choice is probably all you can eat.. unless everyone is willing to fish out abt $30+...

and i'm not familiar with sushi places in bby.. other than the one on sfu.. =P

Believe it or not, JayDub actually suggested Chinese Buffet as a possible meet-up location a while ago.

It is definitely a good idea. When JayDub first suggested it, I actually did a search and, unfortunately, I am not sure if there are any still standing in Burnaby. I found one in Vancouver call Urban Buffet, one in Surrey call Oriental Buffet, and finally one in Kingsway call Grand Buffet. There were used to be so many Chinese Buffets in the Lower Mainland, but many of them closed down for some reason.

But, not being a spoil sport here, most of them got some pretty craptastic review...

Bad idea. That place got shut down multiple times for health code violations, but somehow they always managed to reopen. The food is there terrible, but for some reason it's popular among old white people.

And food safety violation, thankyou Agentbob. Speaking of Chinese Buffet, you guys should look up John Pinette and Chinese Buffet on YouTube.

If you guys really want all you can eat Asian food, may I suggest a Japanese All-You-Can-Eat or an Indian All-You-Can-Eat.

Two suggestion, the all you can eat chinese buffet.

And there is a restaurant on Hasting's near Willingdon called X-Site. It's super cheap. They have burgers, pastas, steaks, chicken, fish etc. Their most expensive plate is $9.95 and in huge proportions.

I've been to X-site a few times, and I don't remember it being very spacious. Do you think they can accomodate a table of 15?

I was just there with my rowing team on Thursday night, there was at least 12 of us. We had to wait for maybe twenty minutes, but we got to sit on the couches in the back corner where they still served us drinks.

Another place we could try is Amarosa's (I believe it is called) on... 7874 Edmonds St.

I hear it is cheap and good.

Or we could all bus out to Langley and go to the Olive Garden.

Or what Tony Roma's, East Side Marios, or the Keg.

i say ban to all you can eat hotpot.. i've had so many hotpot sessions this winter that i swear i'm going to become a hotpot-phobic...
  • edited February 2009
Hotpot is too fashionable these days. I haven't gone out for Chinese that wasn't hotpot in two or three years.

my question to you guys is, are any of you worth actually meeting?

and is anyone actually the tiniest bit curious about me, or am i just the weird guy that randomly appears on occasion, puts in a few obscure words, and disappears again?

edit: oh looky...this was my 100th post.....on this account

How about Montana's at Coquitlam Centre?
  • edited February 2009
i'll be dead honest.. i'm not really there to meet people.. i'm just there for the food.. so there better be good foood!!!!!

lol.. with that said.. past experiences have told me it's actually not that bad.. we've all been in your situation when we decided to host/attend the very first meet up.. but yeah.. there's definitely some cool people there worth meeting.. =)

and don't worry.. if no one is the tiniest bit curious abt you.. you could always make yourself a curious case when you come..
  • edited February 2009
^ same here, if i ever make it, i'll probably be eating for most of the time.
  • edited February 2009
its just for people to hang out and get to know each other. sometimes its nice to put a face to the alias on the screen.

if you dont wanna come then dont. no ones putting a gun to your head. maybe you'll find other meetups more interesting (like hopefully a bbq in the summer).
