Plus, we get 2 points while robbing the division leader of 2.

Carbonneau put him in in the 3rd when the game was pretty much out of hand
Just for respect, good on Carbonneau.

Seriously though, I was in Montreal last weekend and I caught the Toronto-Habs game...I have never seen fans like in that city. It was RIDICULOUS. Even walking downtown during the day, it felt like a playoff game, and inside the stadium I was so speechless. Vancouver is so dull!

    Excited for tonight!!!

nice win tonite, just gotta keep picking up the w's

tight game, thought the flames outplayed us but luongo made some key saves (tho im sure there was a couple he'd like back)

kipper played a very good game too, that wellwood save was amazing
  • edited February 2009
That Wellwood save was lucky. It looks great, but lets face it, he just threw his stick back there in desperation
That save on Sundin on the same power play was amazing.

and tbh I was surprised when the shot statistics came up late in the 3rd. Somehow we put up 40+ tonight even though seemingly, bulk of the chances went to the Flames..

tho they did get a pt for an otl :p i think its highly unlikely we'll catch them

yeah he made a number of terrific saves
im not a fan of saying plays are lucky and what not, kipper didnt give up on the play, did what he could and robbed us of a goal, thats all there was to it

u could just as easily say luongo got lucky bert hit the post, but i wouldnt think so.

yeaaa that was a pretty big 4 point game...the boys are on a pretty good roll right now...since i'm originally from Calgary I'm always kinda torn on who to cheer for but I gotta hand it to the Canucks for pulling that out and not giving up on the game esp. after that weak first half

I wouldn't write it off as lucky either, it takes some extremely quick reflexes and agility to pull off something like that. Of course "chance" is a big part of the game but it takes skill to limit that chance and keep pucks out of the net which is what good goalies do. Luongo has made plenty of heroic saves that you could classify as "lucky" but there is a fine line between luck and skill.

anyways, can't wait till the next game :D

If you ask goalies what it means when the puck goes off the post or crossbar, they'll tell you its because they played the angle perfect and left the shooters with nothing to shoot at ;)

    To Simon:
Look, its one thing to not give up on the play, or having the extremely quick reflexes and agility, props to him for all that. But at the end of it all, he had zero idea where Wellwood was shooting that. He just reached back in desperation. If Wellwood had fanned on that shot and it ended up sliding along the ice, then its in.
A great save is when he actually saw the puck going and made some miraculous unreal save. Unless he had eyes in the back of his head, or say, his peripheral vision sees like, 270 degrees, theres no way he saw the puck. Educated guess, yes. Good save? meh

And yes, I dont deny Luongo made plenty of lucky ones that he got in desperation. Saying theres a fine line between luck and skill and then categorizing one of these no look desperation saves as skill is just way off the mark.

This is a good save, where the goalie actually looked

dont really agree that u have to watch the puck go in to make a great save

and according to your definition, this is a great save

man i keep watching this save and it's amazing. It was definately the save of the game. Luckily we still managed to tie it up :) Great Character in the Canucks right now not to let something like that deflate them . :) BELIEVE IN BLUE !
  • edited February 2009
well I stand corrected, I somehow only remember that he dived back without looking. Great save =D
  • edited February 2009
That was a heck of a save by Kipper (granted, luck was involved too) and he even saved Henrik's shot afterwards. Luongo made some pretty good saves of his own too.
  • edited February 2009
that was hella good...Welwood got robbbbeeedddd

...any Ottawa fans in the house tonite? i don't blame you if your hiding :P
  • edited February 2009
yea loving this all cdn roadtrip

sens playing better as of late, gonna b a good one
  • edited February 2009
They're without Alfy tonight. If we can tighten up in our end or get a couple early ones, this will be one tough game for Ottawa to come back in
  • edited February 2009
yeah i agree it's 4-2 right now but i think the nucks have this one :P On To Toronto next :) Keep it rolling :)
  • edited February 2009
nice solid win tonite, that save in the 3rd off heatley's partial break was pretty nice

    onto toronto indeed
  • edited February 2009
This really proved how strong of a team the Canucks have become...about time too! After tonight's 5-2 win against the Sens, Toronto should be a piece of cake muhhaha
  • edited February 2009
Great win by the Canucks. Sedin line was awesome and Luongo was solid. Refs weren't that good, but that didn't matter.
  • edited February 2009
    nooooooooooo it did not sir
  • edited February 2009
not gonna lie, Toronto is scary... a team with nothing to lose and no one is untouchable. Plus they're not exactly the pop gun offense that is the Sens..
  • edited February 2009
sundin shootout winner, icing on the cake for a fabulous comeback win
  • edited February 2009
Besides the first period, it was a fantastic game.
  • edited February 2009
aside from the end result, they actually played pretty bad imo

team looked sluggish and woulda been a lot worse had luongo not made a bunch of timely saves (despite that soft 2nd goal he let in)

also that 4min pp late 3rd and no shots, against the worst pk in the league, thats unacceptable

good thing the nucks pulled through and found a way to win
  • edited February 2009
couldn't have written a better ending to the game for sundin. overtime was great to watch.
  • edited February 2009
Yea they made a lot of mistakes in the first period, which ultimately resulted in Toronto's first goal...but wow that ending was unreal...it doesn't get any better than that

I'd say Sundin's shootout game winner last night and the Burrows breakaway goal to break the losing streak have been my two biggest highlights this year. I never would have expected these two scenarios to play out the way they did.

With that said, I'm predicting a loss next game. :P

I just want them to win one more game, giving them a 9-for-10 record. Would be great. :)
