Hey everyone hows it going? I'm currently studying in stirling (scotland) and am coming to SFU next year, thing is i gotta choose autumn or spring semester and was looking for some help in choosing!

Which is the better semester to be there for? I know you guys have the winter olympics in jan 2010 and think they would be great to be there for before london ruins the 2012 games :P - i mean seriously did u guys see the closing ceremony in china! it was emabrassing to be british :(

Do you know a guy named Andrew who lives in Edinburgh? He is a homosexual (literally, as in he actually liked to have sex with men), if that helps? He was my roommate last year and he was on exchange from Scottland. I hate him, and if you see him please punch him in the face for me.

    Hi Jimmy x10,

First of all, thankyou for considering SFU. Personally, I would come during the fall semester as I found course offering in the Fall tends to be better than the Spring Semester. Also, there are probably more things for you to do off campus in the Fall semester than the Spring semester.

No, because I am not from Victoria, or BC.

I'd come up in the fall semester, if I were you. Or even the summer semester. SFU is gorgeous in the summer.

Cool whats the snowboarding like in the fall? If i come then it means I have to take an extra module in my forth year as SFU doesn't have an equivelent! Would this be worth it I'm really torn on this decision! Any input would be greatly appreciated :D

The only snowboarding in the fall semester is at the end of November when Whistler/Blackcomb opens. After that you have to wait till the end of December for any of the local mountains to open.

Hey Jimmy you are going to love SFU. If you have a choice, I would come for the semester that begins in January 2010 (Spring Semester). The olympics will be in February and the weather also begins to warm up around then. So as Spring semester goes along, the weather will only be getting better and better. You can also take classes in Summer since SFU is on a tri-mester system. Like JayDub said, peak snowboarding season is pretty much december to february but there's so many things to do in BC so don't worry about that. I prefer the beaches in the summertime anyways :)

If you have any other questions don't hesistate to ask...some people are more helpful then others, but generally everyone here is pretty cool :)

But I ride till June... and that's only because my pass expires in June.

P.S. I just realized...i think i'm gonna start asking people what's occurring instead of whats going on lol

Let me guess, the slope is too icy? My family encountered similiar problem back in mid December as well.
