Surrey Campus

edited January 2009 in General
Has anyone taken classes here? It's my first time and I've decided I actually really like this campus, except for the fact it's in Surrey.

Obviously it was built way after the Burnaby Mountain Campus, but still, Burnaby should really do some renos at some point, I like the warm feeling the Surrey campus has.

Surrey campus does feel very "home-y". Is that how you pronounce it?

It's a gorgeous campus, but I still personally prefer Burnaby.

Have you been to the IAT wing? Some of the technology they have at Surrey campus surpasses the ones at Burnaby.

I've heard so many good things about Surrey campus from everyone I've asked about it but I have yet to visit.. I should really go sometime!

Yeah, aside from being in Surrey, the Surrey campus is pretty great in terms of atmosphere, architecture, and its conduciveness towards learning.

Except their degree is worth as much as your precious Burnaby degree to the employer

I thought SFU Surrey only offers IAT degrees? Any upper division courses have to be done at Burnaby.

I LOVE the Surrey campus. Burnaby is definitely old and outdated. Harbour feels a bit more mature due to grad and mature students, but Surrey's right in the middle. I love it!

Depends on department. There might be almost enough crim classes for someone to take courses strictly by distance + surrey campus now I think.

It may be a nicer campus, but the trek to slurrey is not worth being stabbed.

If you have a IAT degree I don't think it matters that you've taken it at Surrey, either way you have a degree from SFU.

I think they are expanding a crim program there as well, some policing structured one.

You've never even been to Surrey campus! And sure, Surrey is dangerous but it is seriously overrated.

Well I did see a bum in the library at Surrey, but he was deaf and was trying to sell those annoying donate to me I'm deaf cards until security got him out of there.

The Surrey campus is more secure than the Burnaby campus I think, Burnaby you can walk around and not even see security a lot of the time.

i took an econ 2xx level class at surrey, worked out pretty good

generally smaller classroom size, easier to befriend ppl imo
and more accessible by skytrain since no bus is needed
plus it had a food court and t&t for me to buy groceries if needed

The Surrey Campus is sick. They have lots of room for growth and will eventually have full Bachelor's programs there as student enrollement (and demand) grows. Very fun and well designed and all amenities are easy access I can't say enough about it...but there is a definite IQ gap between the "average" student at Surrey vs. the average student at Burnaby

Definitely, the slurrey students have a much lower "IQ" than the Burnaby ones for choosing to go to slurrey. Excluding Mechatronic Engineering, they don't have a choice.

I might not mind Burnaby if not for the nearly 2 hour commute, but it's enough for me to try to avoid the place completely.
