Q Placement Test

edited January 2009 in General
Hi, I signed up to take this test January 5th, and I was wondering if anybody here has experience with it. How close is the actual test to the practice test? I googled the placement test and saw some people talking about it over at mallvibe.com or something like that and they were saying it was pretty difficult. I'm in the library right now taking a look at the Foundations of Analytical/Quantitive Reasoning book and it really doesn't have anything to do with the Q Assessment Topics.

Have you TRIED the practice Q tests!? It's absolutely insane.

    Just take FANX99.

i took that test, as well as the calc placement test. Calc placement test was easier. FANX99 not worth taking. All you need to do is get 20/30. I got 21.
study. Do practice questions then study some more.

What study materials should I use? I've got Math 11 + 12 books right now. I didn't bother taking out the FANX99 course book because it didn't seem to relate to the practice test somehow.

    It's more logic-based.

    Logic based? Lol. no.

No, it's just algebra and some problem solving. Just remember the area of a square, triangle, circle, and circumference, fractions, roots.

If you didn't fail Math in High School, you should be able to pass.

Do you guys remember if the topics covered on the actual test is the same as the practice test? I pretty much understand all the principles of the practice test and know how to do the questions. I just don't want to be caught off-guard with some stuff that wasn't on the practice test. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know how it is with the Q test, but with the Calc readiness test, the practice test and real test were practically the same.

I don't remember anything about the area of shapes...I had troubles in Math 12, but near aced the placement test. That in mind I took it two years ago, it was mainly stuff related to fractions, square roots, and very basic algebra. It was very simple and had nothing that wasnt on the placement test.

Thanks for letting me know guys. I feel more confident about this now.

my cousin took the Q test this semester and failed. LOL.
I can't tell you much about it 'cuz I never took it, but she said it was similar to the practice test, but the questions were much more difficult to solve.

Honestly, I really did almost fail Math 11, but the test I took (which could be way different now)...I felt if anyone failed that they probably shouldnt be in university ;P
