For those that applied for scholarships in highschool -

edited December 2008 in General
Hey guys, I'm senior grade 12 student and am just requesting some help with finding scholarships.

I have great marks, I'm just having trouble finding sources where i can get a list of scholarships so i can nail down em and apply away.

My question: Do you have a source(website, link, anything) that has scholarships listed or something where you got your scholarships?

Greatly appreciated! Thanks.

ummm my school had a counselor appointed to give us all the info, links, guidance on scholarships... i would advise you to speak with your schools reps...

Yeah my school counselor was pretty great too.

Aside from that, I usually looked at studentawards.com .. the forums are pretty helpful (though you'll find a lot of information that only applies to schools in the East).

if ur going into science apply for shrum science scholarship, its $24000 and sfu gives out 40 of them. my brother won one. its ur best bet if going into science. note, you'll need about 95% gr 12 avg, and volunteer work/sports helps a lot because u have to a couple essays

    http://www.cs.sfu.ca/undergrad/scholarships_current.html

Once you're accepted if you go to go.sfu.ca I think there is a list of bursary and scholarships there.

most scholarships you need to apply for don't really emphasize your grades that much, it's all about social involvement.

At the very least you'll get the automatically awarded entrance scholarship, which is based solely on your marks.

Your school should have Grad Bulletins or something that lists a whole bunch of scholarships that you can apply for. You can also check these website:

    http://scholarshipscanada.com/index.asp?Show=Entrance
    http://www.myschool101.com/scholarship/index.asp
    http://ogrant.com/
and student awards is an awesome source.

Well, you can't apply for the Shrum scholarship directly, you just apply for the SFU entrance scholarships and they'll consider you for all of them that they have (e.g. the major $34000 one, the $7000 Dean's)... and besides, I don't think the Shrum scholarship is limited to just science students. The only essay you need to write for the application is some 900-word essay on a broad question (last year's was "What makes a world wonder?").

You can get this year's application here:
