Have you seen East Asians on TV? They usually play nerds, geeks, math whiz, number crunchers, and accountants. Typical cultural stereotypes.
Get a group of East Asian looking like "posse" walking around in an interior rural town and white locals will be staring at them.
Even the ones that don't look nerdy will come across that stereotype. Heck, I have Asian friends that gets asked math and computer questions from random strangers, and they look like illicit's crew. It's weird.
