PSYC X99 anyone?
Just wondering if anyone has taken this before..heard it was really hard besides the fact that it's an intensive writing course. I'm taking it next semester.
Thanks!

Prof, Gordon Rose, is good, uses humour and stuff and gets his student involved. HOWEVER, he hates it when people talk in class and he will pick on you and call you out like there is no tomorrow. I was one of those students. So stupid. I hated him after that. Douchebag. But, he's good. It really helps if you've taken PSYC 100 and 102 first because everything he teaches you is all review and overlap from those classes.
This is strictly a W course. It is INSANE how much writing there is to do. There are 2-page summaries of debates that you must complete every week. There are also 5-minute "free writes" that are in lecture so it essential that you attend lecture or else "you will fail". Also, the term paper is worth 40% but it is done in little increments (ie. abstract, first review, peer review, first draft, final draft).
The midterm was pretty crazy. I think there was 10 MC, few pages of short answer questions, and then an essay to be completed in 50 minutes. I barely finished. He is very specific on short answer and if it is not his wording, you will be docked marks (more like half or more of the answer). Essay questions are things specifically told in lecture. Final is coming up and it is the same format as the midterm but with two essays.
Yeah. It's a pretty sucky course, in my opinion. I just took it as a B-Sci. I enjoy writing but honestly, those daily summaries are fucked in the head. So annoying! But good luck :P
but feel free to get the rosen academic writer's handbook from me.. i'm selling it for cheap.
