Exam Conflict

edited November 2008 in General
Hi all, I'm just wondering if anyone has exam conflicts before?? Also, did anyone have this situation before? You have an exam at, let's say, 8:30 - 11:30am at the Burnaby campus, but you also have an exam at 12:00 - 3:00pm at the Surrey or Vancouver campus on the same day. What did you guys do in this case? Finally, I heard something like if you have 3 exams in a 24-hour period, you can get your final exams rescheduled. Is this true? Thanks!!

No, it is four exams in a 24-hour period, I just asked an advisor on this since I have probably the worst exam schedule ever. I am going to have to pick which classes I want to pass.

1)you go to one of the instructors and ask to be rescheduled. Try to reschedule the less important exam. For me it was: Math 152 and Cmpt 165, rescheduled cmpt

    2)true

    fucking owned

    btw which four courses?

For a second, I thought you are asking us about exam scheduling conflict in that you have two exams at the same time. In that sort of situation, you normally couldn't even enroll.

As for your current situation, there isn't much you can do. Like IVT said, try speaking to your instructor.

Wow, now I begin to appreciate being swamped with papers. I am done on December 08 at 11:30AM.

i was in the exact same position 2 semesters before.. i talked to my prof about not able to make the exam in surrey and she had it scheduled in burnaby so i could take it there.. =) just make sure you talk to your prof soon to give them lots of prep time.. they tend to get crankier as the semester winds down.. =(

    Dec 5: 7:00 - MACM 316

    Thanks.

None of the classes are extremely difficult it is just that they are put so close together.
  • edited November 2008
Eh, I've had situations like that. I just sucked it up and went with it.

shouldn't you figure out when you register for the courses?

the prof probably told you the procedure to reschedule finals on the first day of classes
(some profs dont like to reschedule and tell you on the first day, which means that you should ask your other prof to reschedule)
my econ prof emailed us saying we can go talk to him if we have 2 exams within 24 hours and we can reschedule it with him
it's up to your prof :S

Having your exams spread apart is a double edged sword (right expression?). You get more time to study for exams, however you tends to be more stressed out as you can't, "get them over with" and you start your winter holiday later.

For me, I got an exam on the Dec 5, an essay due Dec 6, and an exam on Dec 8.

    Yeah, you're totally right.

Mine are: Dec 5, Dec 6, Dec 11, Dec 13.
I have this huge gap in the middle... it totally puts me out of the exam mood.

This happens to me too. I usually study a month before all of my exams and just kind of review it during the exam weeks. It usually solves that dreadful wait.

I always liked it when my exams were spread out. That way I could block out time to study for them. :)

But what I REALLY hated was that I almost never had all early exams in April, so I'd only get like a week or a week and a half to really just relax. :(

i personally wouldnt recommend anyone taking the course
    material is super easy
but the way that akbar makes the marking scheme is really hard
everyone goes to the TA afterwards to argue
our first midterm class average was 55%
and after all the suggestions, it was 57%
2nd midterm class average was 80%
and apparently, it was the exact same midterm as last semesters =\
if you ask why you lose marks
the only answer that you get it "more explanations"

it IS possible that he can get fired...
    good luck on the final!
and please spread the words out how akbar is a big asshole and NOT to take econ 210 :)
