Breadth courses

edited November 2008 in General
I'm a bit confused about this little line under the WQB Requirements for a Bachelor of Arts
Four additional Breadth courses (12 units, undesignated) –may or may not be B-designated courses.
What does that mean?
Does it mean that courses with no B in it it counts? Like if I take an ASC course (they have nothing, no W, Q or B) does it count as the 'four additional Breadth courses'?
Or do only courses with B in them count, like CRIM 101 (which has B-Soc) for example?

If it's the latter, it leaves no room for courses with nothing in them

And courses you take for an extended minor and certificates can count towards WQB as well as that weird "four additional Breadth courses" thing, right?

4 undesignated breadth courses mean 4 courses of anything not required by your major. So if you've completed your WQB requirements, you can still take courses from that list if you want to, to fill up the remaining 12 credits or take some other random course.

We all are at one time or another.

It means anything that is not going toward your Major, B-Science, B-Social Science, or B-Humanities count. Therefore, if I am a History major, fulfilled all my WQB crap, and took some random give away crap, that's toward my undesignated B.

Yes. This is why I am experiencing such pain with my History and Humanities Double Major, as well as a Religious Studies Certificate.

For courses that have two B-credits, like... it has B-Social Sci, and B-Sci, how do you choose which Breadth credit to give it to? Is it automatically distributed most efficiently?

Once you declared your major, your advisor will go over the WQB with you and talk about what you have and have not done. There, you and your advisor will decide which course will be used for what B-credit.

Why are you experiencing pain if stuff from your Religious Studies certificate and one of your majors count for WQB requirements? You're hitting a bunch of birds with one stone!

And thanks a lot for your answers! =)

What if I want to take some simple give aways like Acting? With all the stuff I need to deal with, I have NO room to take anything outside my major or certificate.
