How many visitors does your blog get?

edited November 2008 in General
I've seen some great blogs from the members of this forum, so I was wondering if you guys would be willing to share how much traffic your blog gets (or has gotten). And don't say nobody reads it because at least one person (me) finds the musings of other SFU students interesting...especially when they are so well written.

I used to get a HUGE number of pageviews per day.. but that's only because I used to provide free music downloads on my site. There are a bunch of links floating around the internet that point to songs I used to have. When people click them, they just get redirected to my home page. I think I'm currently getting 30-50 views a day. The average was 80 per day back in September and much much higher in July when I still had the music. I guess people are finally figuring out that the music isn't there any more..

too lazy to check but i'm assuming very very few hits on my blog, since i only post about once a month, on topics that don't interest most people, and never made it accessible to MSIE. I use it as a place to publish stuff that I wouldn't otherwise publish, and of course there's other uses for my hosting account.

my blog gets 1.37 page views per day
my site gets 4.27 per day
i don't know how many visitors per day that is on average but i will guess:
    3 for the blog
    5 for the site

visits to my blog spiked when i posted this

    gee...i wonder why...

for anyone who hasn't done so already, get Google Analytics, it will help you track your traffic

So, umm, how do you setup a blog again? Do you have to pay anything? And why do people set up a blog anyway?

lots of free blogging services are available, wordpress.com is generally regarded as the best.

I have a blog...I mainly use it to save/publish articles that I think are interesting and it's almost like a journal of what's going on what I'm thinking at the the time...but I don't get very many visitors either that's why I was curious.

Isn't there some way we can incorporate our blogs with talkSFU? if you guys are interested we should talk about it with the admins it would help us get more traffic...speaking of which, anyone know how many visitors this forum getS?

it gives them the false illusion that someone cares about their problems or thoughts

You don't have to pay, but you can get much better hosting plans. With the free sites, you're restricted in the number of ads you can put on your page. Some won't let you change the layout, etc.
I pay roughly $20 a year using this plan. I like having complete freedom to do what I want with my site.

I just pay full price, it's not expensive anyways.

then it's just a diary and not a blog because a blog is defined as a publication

Some people make lots of money with blogs by ads and number of clicks or visitors. I think there's some ways to cheat with that method.

ya but blogs don't deliver h-core data that demands high up-ld speeds on ur side
and with only like 100 ppl per day i doubt ud notice it...

i ran my own web radio from home @ pretty high encoding never had complains about it being slow (buffering often)

mm i guess that's right if you're only running a personal blog...then again why even bother running your own server when you can just use wordpress.com or blogger?

i guess i'm just saying since above there were links discussed about pay options for personal blogs which to me seems like a ridiculous waste of money

I thought about it, but you'd still end up paying more in power costs just to keep the computer running. You also have to consider the man hours spent configuring and maintaining the thing.
Even if it took a total of 1 hour to set up and maintain for the whole year, and cost $3 in power per month, it would still be cheaper to host online.
