Anyone have experience with missing packages (mail)?

edited November 2008 in General
I have 2 tracking numbers, both says delivered successfully on the 30th, I don't have either package, nor do I have the notification to pick up the packages at the post office. I'm hoping its just the snow causing havoc or w/e but if any of you have experiences with this and have any advice/suggestion, I'm all ears.

If you hadn't ordered something illegal then customs would not have had to seize it. That's the reason you don't have your packages.

sometimes when its delivered successfully to the post office it still takes a couple of days for them to sort it so the notfication to pick it up can take additional time (but it shouldn't be more than a couple of days).

maybe someone took your notice, or pulled it down, call the post office and see what they say

both within Canada, but thanks for your concern
    I grow my own

randomuser: unless they left it on the ground and it got blown away :/

my speculation is the snow causing them to do something stupid, but the scary thing is, we've gotten mail the last two days. No notices, no packages in the big mail box with key, nadda :/

Shouldn't this be in General Discussion?

Only when it goes across the border. Not only do they look, they take it out and examine it first before repackaging it. I ordered a $700 co2 rifle from the states and noticed some damages to it because they didn't repackage it properly.

    Damn bureaucrats.

EDIT: did you buy insurances? Those generally helps a lot when it comes to more expensive orders.

What happened to my right to privacy? Come to think about it, do they also open letters and read the contents before resealing them? I plan to ship some stuff with a Manila folder...

    Ouch, sorry to hear that.

Yeah.. the man is out to get you.. They're reading your mail! I recommend a tin-foil hat to keep them from reading your thoughts too. Obviously, the only reason they're opening packages is to snoop on people and invade your privacy just for the fun of it.

Seriously though, I work at a postal outlet and it's not uncommon for mail tracking to get screwed up. If the local post office doesn't have it, you can call the main Canada post help line and bitch at them for a while. They should either find it for you, or give the sender their money back along with any insurance, if they paid extra for it.

Thanks, I'm hoping its a screwed up tracking. I've already paid for the contents of the shipping, no insurance was ordered. So it does nothing for me for the shipper to get w/e back...

Haha, I often though that they only X-Ray certain packages they found suspicious. I never thought they would open the package...

Actually, most of the time they just look at the customs form and don't open it.. but when they do decide to open it, they charge a ridiculous $5 fee just for handling.

Haha, this one time, a guy came in and was really pissed because he had imported about $1000 worth of Korean cigarettes labeled as "No Value: snacks". Customs caught it though and charged him an extra $500 or so. The reason they open stuff is to catch people trying to get away with scams like that.

Now that guy was asking for it...

Why the hell would he label $1000 worth of cigarettes as snack? It is just going to draw unwanted attention... Who the fuc* import a box load of snacks? Even my dad, who is a junk food addict, don't...

Sorry about resurrecting this ancient thread guys, but I ran into some problems with Canada Post and Canada Customs.

Last week (November 3), I ordered some airsoft accessories from Hong Kong (a tri-rail mount for my paintball marker). The package got to Canada within two days I ordered. However, it has been sitting in the Canada Customs place since November 5. All it said is, "International item arrived in Canada and will be reviewed by Customs."

I should not be worried about the content, right? It is just an airsoft accessories for me to mount Red Dot Sights and Flashlights. Hell, if Agent Bob can get an Airsoft Rifle into Canada

then I shouldn't have any problems.

Is this sort of idoling at the Customs Place pretty standard or am I not going to get my tri-rail mount?
