$100 deposit for Spring 2009

edited November 2008 in General
Do you guys know how we exactly pay for the $100 deposit for this upcoming term. I'm looking at sis.sfu.ca and see no way of paying for it. Do I have to go directly to the registrar?

    Current student?

At least two or three days before you enroll in your second or subsequent term, pay your $100 enrollment deposit through online or telephone banking or by cheque or money order to Student Accounts in Student Services, Maggie Benston Centre 3000. This deposit will be deducted from your total tuition.
I did mine through online banking.

I paid the $100 deposit 4 days ago through online banking, but the $100 credit doesn't show up on my account balance. When will it show? My enrolment date is tomorrow!!!

If i have money in my account with they automatically take the $100 credit? Probably not right, in case i was taking the semester off? So if i have like $250 in my account do i just go up to them and ask them to take that $100 off of that $250?

Random question, if i've graduated SFU and is leaving SFU or something and I have extra money left over in my account do they give it back to me? just wondering...

My transaction took about 3.5-4 business days to complete (paid last weekend, posted to account Thursday afternoon).

If you have money in your account with no outstanding charges, it's -$100 if you pay the deposit. Should show.

My friend said he didn't pay his $100 deposit, but he was still able to register for courses today, strange eh.

I paid through online banking 5 days ago and it still hasn't gone though.

So I just paid it through student services and voila, in 10 minutes it showed the -100 balance in my account. The online banking thing still hasn't gone through.

From now on I'm going to pay those minor charges in person. The line up is minimal when I went.

Didn't you say you paid 4 days ago two days back? :P

Well, assuming that you paid on Wednesday, if you paid later in that day then it probably wouldn't get processed until at least the next day.. tacking on 4 business days should lead you to tomorrow (today technically). My guess is that the money will show up around the afternoon.

I just drop off a check. If I do it in the morning, it posts to goSFU the same day and I register. Since I'm a grad student the pressure isn't as high to deposit early (I only need to register in the "M.Sc Thesis" course to prove I'm a real student and not faking it), so meh.

I dropped off a check on Thursday midday and it posted to goSFU Friday morning. Good times.

I am pretty sure that Rez students don't have to pay the $100 deposit because we have to pay a $700 deposit for rez. That leaves us with a balance of -$700 so we should not need to pay another $100 to register.

If i have some money that I still owe SFU for tuition etc, is it possible to just pay $100 JUST for the deposit so i can register for courses?

Nah man, they have it set up so that you gotta have a -$100 balance before you can register for classes, meaning everything else must be paid too.

Shit son, fucking student loans owned me by not giving me anything.

Now i'm still down -$471. Fuck.
No credit card even if I go in person?

    Don't you mean your +$471?

As of September 1 SFU doesn't take credit cards...that's crap eh

Just write a cheque or give them cash. It will be hilarious if you give them 471 loonies. This would be one epic lulz!

You still haven't paid for tuition!?

Well you have assets. (your car). How do you expect them to give you a student loan!? LOL.

IIRC yep you can just pay by debit card.
  • edited November 2008
My debit limit is only like $200 :(.
  • edited November 2008
I still need to pay the deposit.

This is what says on the SFU website:

    If you pay in person
You can pay by cash, cheque, debit card, or credit card, at the Registrar and Information Services counter on any of the three campuses

So I think it's possible to pay by credit card in person.

    the website is not updated
if you go to the student service center
on the white board it says NO CREDIT CARD
not even at the front desk.

it's not hard just go to there and drop off a cheque if you can take the time there to swipe your card. but be sure to do it early because it takes 4 business days for the transaction to go through.

You were probably reading deposit payments for NEW students.. I believe SFU still accepts CC payment for that.
