Of course you have a record first-year enrolllment, you stupid cun*s. You lowered the admission average so much that anyone can get in. I will laught my arse off if this is also the year of the most AP and RTW.

Its just a method for SFU to earn more big bucks~
but I totally agree with Student0667, this is also the year of the most AP for 1st years.

Sometimes, I feel like whether this is even a University. I'm studying in a supposedly "higher education" environment with students that would not have enough qualification for admission a couple of years ago. Sorta somewhat degrading in a sense?

But then again, SFU is "thinking about the world" right?

it's a business and if they admit it or not, the goal at the end of the day is to make money, providing quality service in this case education is second

I partially agree with you, but I think that the most challenging part of university should be staying in, not getting in.

Yes, which is why a percentage of the 1st years will have trouble staying in. This is largely due to the lower admission rate and it does not reflect to the level of difficulty of some first year courses, namely the econ and business courses.

I believe once you have passed your first year, you are most likely to do fine.
The first few semesters are always the shakiest, mainly due to a new environment and course difficulties. Oh, and the curve!

lol.. oh.. people just love lying to themselves and living in lies too of course.. =)

I heard that SFU is easy to get in, but hard to stay in while UBC is hard to get in, but easy to stay in.

They say that SFU's courses are a level higher (more difficult) than UBC's. (ie. 200 level courses at SFU = 100 level courses at UBC)

wouldn't that make UBCs courses harder, lol.
100 level at sfu is what, high school?

I don't think "providing quality service in this case education" is even a priority these days. It's all about the$$$. :)

    1. SFU admits tons of 1st years with easy admission
    2. the 1st years all fail during the 1st year
    3. no refunds for 1st years
    4. profit!!!

    there's no ??? phase

For those of you yapping your stupid first year lips about profit, SFU operates on a pretty sizable debt.
Also on a semi-related note, until anyone can actually point to solid evidence that SFU courses are harder than UBC's at the first year level, that's just all hearsay.
