Has Anyone Been to Thailand?
Just wondering if anyone has been to Thailand. I'm going there next May for 40 days and I can't WAIT (especially in this weather!). So I thought I'd see if anyone else has been there.
Feel free to share stories about other places you have traveled as well! I want to see the whole world...

i still havnt step foot on europe yet *sniff
ive gone to spain its really nice there too, went in the summer gets scorching hot though but beaches n nightlife are off the hook... the ppl dont sleep for some reason lol all just partying it up
The beaches DO look gorgeous. I just read Alex Garland's book 'The Beach' to get me all psyched up for how beautiful it is there (great book, too).
That's funny that no one sleeps in Spain! I thought they did the siesta thing?
and yeah apparently there are a lot of transsexuals in thailand, but i guess it's a part of their culture. my sister thought it was actually amazing how they actually looked gorgeous and not "drag-queenish".
i backpacked through france, italy and switzerland this past summer...there's so much more in europe i have to see, before heading off to another continent!
out of curiousity, are you going to thailand for a specific reason? or just for fun?
And good for you for backpacking through 3 European countries! I've always wanted to do that. I will maybe get to Europe next... It does tend to be more expensive, though! Did you need to learn some languages to get by?
I'm off to Thailand just for fun! A nice, relaxing time on the beach. And I take a lot of photographs, so I'm hoping to document some of their culture like the amazing outdoor markets and huge Buddha statues!
yeah europe is trés expensive!! Well, it depends...I mean the Euro itself is about double the Canadian dollar...and then you have the Swiss monetary system, which is just ridiculous. people think living in vancouver is bad, well, i was in switzerland for about a week before i was seriously in debt (i had to call home to get money wired in...that's how bad it got!)
i had a little french background (and my best friend is French too) so we got around fine. in italy, people knew english most of the time (or french if we were desperate). English is such a major language, you can pretty much get anywhere in Western Europe with it!
to all the locals i talked to, they said that English is the easiest language to learn (and these people can speak 5 languages! especially in Switzerland where the culture is more of a mix!
but anyway, every time i start talking about Europe, I go on a spiel and i can't stop...
When are you heading for Thailand?
That is awesome, Meesh! I really want to get a Eurorail pass and backpack around Europe sometime. Maybe when I grad? And thanks for the tip about Switzerland! I really want to check out Greece.
Funny story about that. My roommate met some chick there...needless to say it was a guy
lol
