Revisiting WQB in the E-mail survey

Did anyone else fill that Survey out you got in your sfu webmail?

For the second year in a row I told them exactly what I thought of it, and how it made me end up with 66 lower division credits, and how it also limited my upper division selection.

Did anyone else bother to complete it or let them know?

    I did the survey as well just because it is fun to piss on SFU. Regarding the WQB problem, I gave the WQB the lowest rating possible and I told them outright that taking two W and two Q courses is not going to make me a better writer and thinker.

    I disagree with you in a way.

    I think high school does not prepare you to be a good writer, but thats what I think ENGLISH classes are for. Doesn't almost every degree force you to take two first year english classes anyway...?

    Any W designed course didn't help me write, my first year english classes are what helped me.

    To tell you the truth, I don't really know what high school prepared me for. I pretty much re-learned everything after I got into university. However, I attribute trial and error as my prepartion to be a good writer.

    Not History and Humanities.
    Any W designed course didn't help me write, my first year english classes are what helped me.
    Look, the thing is that expectations and criterias is so different amongst programs and professor that there is not really a standardized Writing method in university. One thing that a professor demands maybe blasphemy and madness to another professor.

    I only did one lower division writing course and that was PHIL100.

    Every degree forces you to take 2 lower division writing courses?

    Mines only required one and I had a choice between ENG, PHIL, HIST and a few other obscure courses. Upper division writing is some course that's part of the department you're in.

    No. All you are required to do is to take one lower level writing course and one upper level writing course.

    For some reason I thought my degree required me to take at least one english class.

    But maybe I'm mixing that up with my transfer requirements, in which case they hold me to higher standards than people entering SFU from high school.

    Every degree has different lower division requirements depending on what program you are in. Check out a program planner if you want to know what yours are.

    To be honest, the wqb requirements really don't bother me. I would have taken some arts courses as gpa boosters anyways.
