What do you thing of CS @ SFU?

edited September 2008 in General
Hi Everyone,

I am a Computer Science student at a university in Ontario and I am considering transfering to SFU this Winter. I would like to hear from SFU students about their university experience. Also, what do you think of the CS program at SFU?

Thanks,

SFU computing science is excellent. Better than UBC's in any case :P

One thing you maybe interested to know that Lê Minh, one of the creators of Counter Strike, is a SFU Computer Science Graduate. This just takes SFU Computer Science's reputation to a whole new level. BTW, Primexx, I knew about this long before I read your mini bio on The Peak.

SFU has a better CS program but UBC always wins the programming contests, I don't know why.

Ehh...no, Waterloo does. They always come in first, so they might be doing something right.

I never been to UBC, but the CS program here is the best in the province. I asked around a lot before coming here and they all say the same thing. Our programs are very comprehensive. In fact, two new CS programs are being introduced. We also have a facility in our satellite campus that's dedicated to cyber crime research. Nifty stuff.

Awesome, I knew that your CS program is great when I saw the courses offered, they are intereseting. More importantly, the CS department has exellent faculty with exellent research. I think this is enough with academics. My next concern is: Which campus to go to? Which city/campus is best for students? How easy is it to find part-time jobs on/off campus in each of the cities? and lastly, I would like a piece of advice from you guys!

    Thanks,
