Saving streaming media

edited September 2008 in General
I wanna save some videos that are in WMV format. I obviously can't right click and choose "Save as"; are there any ways or any programs that can help me save the videos on to my hard drive?

use Internet Explorer to stream then go to your Temporary Internet Files folder. The video should be in there. You can also do this with mp3s

I can't seem to find anything useful in that folder! Does this have anything to do with with making certain files visible?

Not really. There should be a lot of stuff there and the video may or may not have the same name. I'm pretty sure wmv's are not streamed, but downloaded and played. If you want to narrow down the search, you could clear the folder, then go watch the video again.

If the video is actually streamed, there are probably programs out there that will let you capture it.

The thing is the videos are on a secure (password-based) website to which I have limited access (NOT pornography, if that's what any of you was thinking). Nothing new shows up in my Temporary Internet Files folder; is there a special way of saving these sorts of inaccessible files?

Can snag streaming videos and such from sites like Youtube and many others.
