I tried an electric shaver for a bit and didn't like it. When you first use it to, and then when you sweat it will hurt like a bitch. But shaving with it I did not like at all.
DO NOT GET ONE!! electric shavers are pretty bad for ur skin and like iran said, they cant do half as good a job as a razor I would only recommend getting it if you need to shave everyday and ur hair grows back within a day..itll speed the process up quite a bit but wont leave u as happy oo ya i think that the rotary will probably be better, definitely more durable
i have a braun foil, works ok. still prefer razor but pretty lazy in the mornings on my way to school. dont need to clean mine or maintain it since i just have to put it in the dock and it cleans itself while charging.
unless you're either lazy or dont have the time to properly shave with a razor in the morning theres no other reason to really get one IMO.

Wrong on both counts, motherfucker! Firstly, that Braun foil razor that the OP is considering can actually achieve a near-razor shave with much less irritation. Secondly, there's no fucking way hair growth will be significantly affected by how frequently you shave.

Seriously how naive are you? did you go to Braun's website and learn that it can "achieve a near-razor shave with much less irritation".... not everyones hair/skin is like yours and is perfectly suitable for a electric shaver..dumbfuck o ya and blackhat..take into consideration that these things dont work with one swipe most of the time, u may have to shave over again in the direction opposite to how ur hair grows..which can cause hair to grow out in weird directions for some ppl..nvr good if ur ever gunna grow a beard
Thanks for the all the replies. Really value all of your feedback. Insatiable, I appreciate the input but you are being a douche bag. Seriously, this is a manly thread about a manly topic so let's act like men, shall we?
Here are the influencing factors: 1) Very sensitive skin 2) Close shave is a must 3) I like to keep both, ahem, departments well kept.
So, decided to go with the foil Braun. Picking it up tomorrow morning. I'll post back on here once I get it. In any case, they offer a 30 day trial refund so people could try them out.
In all seriousness, I used to use an electric razor when I was younger because my skin was too sensitive for a blade (somehow I'd always cut myself shaving, and it got to be too damn annoying, so electric it was); eventually though, I switched to a razor blade and I haven't looked back, especially since I use this trick my dad told me about, which is to use a whisk-like brush and a bar of soap to make a lather without wasting a canister of shaving cream.
Bought the Braun 8985 at London Drugs today at 23% off. At initial glance: this thing is HUGE (but manageable), looks incredibly cool and has a bit of weight to it.
I went really easy on the first shave (so not very close) and the first impression is: SEXY.
(Yet again, I may be a little biased right now because when I was buying it, an old lady standing in line behind me told me that "This will impress all the girls at school".)
The packaging came with at least 3 warnings saying that it will take the skin 2-3 weeks to adapt to the shaver so I'll keep everyone updated.
Overall, completely different feeling from straight razor and so far so good. :)

Thank you for sharing your feelings with everyone.
I can probably grow a thick beard faster than anyone here (im willing to bet on this) and i can confidently say you're wasting your money.
Should just get a 15 dollar gillette 5 blade razor if you want some hardcore shit.
I personally just use 3 blade.
Why pretend to be one of us plebeians, huh?
