Out of curiosity... there's also a deadline for the last day to drop a class completely using SIS. But there will be a withdrawn (WD) notation on your transcript.
My question: what's so bad about having a WD noted on your record?
Tells people who look at your transcript you're a quitter (post-grad), and doesn't specify why. Don't take my word but I think it's worse in upper division than it is lower division, depending on what you want to do.
Having a WD on your transcript doesn't matter because there is no GPA or credit adjustment. I have never heard of anyone being called a quitter because they had some on the transcript. One person had 9 WDs on his and got into Harvard Law no sweat.
Better having a WD than a low grade in the course because you decided to bear with it. I think the administration put it in there anyway to discourage people from waiting so long to drop the class.
Well having no WD is better than a low grade or a WD. I doubt anyone gets into Harvard law no sweat either, I'm sure the rest of his grades must have compensated quite well, or that and a mix of activities and law school pre-test.
I'm sure noone calls the person a quitter literally either, but if someone is looking at a transcript and sees WD's clearly it poses the question: "Why?". I'm sure if there were two people of exact same qualities, aptitude and personality the person without 9 WD's would be favorable.
As I said as well, if its a school who is only looking at UDGP I doubt they'll care if you had 9 or 15 WD's in lower division.
