usb flash drive

edited September 2008 in General
Okay so I got my usb flash drive to work. I put that into my laptop after putting in files from my PC to the usb flash drive. I click on the removeable disk and it says i have to format the disk before using it =S what do i do?

    Then format it lol.
Right click the drive and there'll be an option to format.

That might not be the best idea; the question is, why is the other computer not properly "seeing" the USB drive to begin with?

    Who knows, maybe accidental corruption

If you still have a copy of the files just reformat the drive (NTFS I guess) and copy everything back over. If the problem keeps occurring maybe it's defective. What brand/model/size btw?

maybe it's formatted as a format the other system can't read?

it's generally better do do fat32 on flash drives since you plug them into a lot of different systems.

most drives come in fat32 now adays dont they?
