Scholarships and paying the tuition

edited August 2008 in General
If I got an entrance scholarship for my first year at SFU, how do I apply that to my account? Do I have to pay the full amount, then wait for them to give me back the money? How does it work?

You can either pay the full amount and then pick up a check near the first week of school, or you can wait till they deduct it from your tuition, and then pay.

if you pay before the 31st by credit card, and your credit card has a reward points system or something similar, then it might be beneficial for you to pay everything first and then get the refund check. It also depends on your bank interest rate too :P

Oh and of course I'm assuming you pay your credit card bills in full so they don't charge you interest on that.

If you wait for them to credit it and then pay, it might be a little late and you might be dinged with overdue fees (I'm not sure about that, but it's better safe than sorry). If I were you, I would either:
    a) Look at your tuition for the term, subtract your scholarship money, and pay that now so it'll work out just right
    b) Pay in full now, then just get the refund cheque later

I thought they stopped taking credit cards? Or do they stop after 31st?
