Has anyone had any experiences with that mini apple store thing around SFU? I've heard of it but never actually visited it. i'm planning on buying a macbook pro there so yeah i don't really know about there service, or even what kind of discounts they give students.

It's an authorized Apple reseller. What more do you need to know? It sells Apple products, all with student discounts.

i got my macbook at the sfu store. it was alright. i knew what i was gonna get so i can't say much about the service. although i've heard they're pretty quick with repairs if you need it.
check out the site for deals: http://www.microstore.sfu.ca

i believe they have that 'buy a mac, get a free ipod touch' deal going on. i got that when i bought my laptop and i just sold the ipod since i didn't need it. good way to save some cash.

Yea, they have some good products to take a look at, and they are below retail because of the student discount. I think it's safe to say that you won't find retail Apple products cheaper anywhere else.

I heard Apple is releasing a new laptop in September for less than $1000...I also have a feeling they will release some tablet type of device with touch capabilities...kinda like a bigger version of the iPhone...now that they've made the macbook air and how thin it is, it shouldn't be too hard to combine the lcd screen to the processor part of it, with an onscreen touch keyboard just like the iphone...anyone agree?

Touch screen laptop and sub-1000 laptop will be completely different things. You can expect Touch screen laptop to be $2000-$3000. Multi-touch screens are really fucking expensive. Also, on-screen keyboards suck, tactile-response is far better.

depends on the engineering of the keyboard and what its main purpose is. touch keyboards could work for some (futuristic) setups, it's just not all that practical yet.

and yea, considering the Dell XT is $2.5k, I wouldn't be surprised if apple's multi-touch is in the 3k range. If they were to release something like that they should really make the user interface more touch-friendly, considering the finger isn't as accurate as a mouse.
