First Year CS. what do i take?

edited July 2008 in General
So ive got CMPT-120 and MACM-101

i was heartbroken when they said i have a B- in math and not a B. so calculus (MATH-150) is out of the question. I want to have 4 courses, but right now i only have 2.

can i get suggestions to what i can enroll in? i heard philosophy was horrible.

take the Calculus readiness test. I had to do it before they let me into math 151

Has anyone taken that math for teachers course? I'm looking for a few Q courses and that seemed to be the most interesting.
Keeping in mind that Math 12 was a struggle for me.

    can't believe nobody mentioned this...

    CMPT165!!!!!

extremely easy credits that you won't be allowed to take once you've progressed far enough in your program.

Yeah, do the calculus readiness test, it probably beats taking Math 100 unless you really need it (I got a D in math 151....:(

Also, the course in the screenshot you posted is a W course, I think if you didn't get like 75% in Eng12 then you will have to write some test as well, or take another course first... If this is the case, you should probably get on that pretty quick as well.

    CMPT 165 for easy marks.

PHIL 100W to fill your W.

Take CMPT 150 con-currently with MACM 101 while you're at it.

I wish someone had told me that :( Now I can't take it. So bullshit... I want my 3 free creds :( Now I have to take 8 first year courses from *OTHER* faculties because CS is too cool to give me credit. Bastards.

Op: Yeah.....PHIL 100 & 120 were easy and mildly interesting, CRIM 101 was pretty easy, but I found it kinda boring.... Phys 101 if you want to get one of your sciences out of the way...it's basically Phys 11/12 with 1 or 2 new concepts that sort of build on what you already know, but not even by much.
