Advice about courses please?

edited July 2008 in General
So far, my ARCH 100 class only has 8/300 people and another course I really want in the future, HUM 102 is nearly filled up at 22/48. However, HUM 102 is at the Surrey campus... but I reeeeeally want this class and was hoping that it'll be offered at the Burnaby campus one day... but by then I probably won't ever get that course because I'll be at the bottom of the list for course selections.

EDIT:
I'm reeeeeeally leaning towards going to Surrey for that one class...
It's

vs

The only loss seems to be that I won't have 2 days off, I'll only have one, and a gain would be I won't have to wake up as early on Monday and Wednesday.

I basically want ARCH 100 for ARCH 226, since it requires you to take a lower level ARCH course before you can take it. However, ARCH 226 is Distance Ed. Does anyone know if it'll ever be offered in an actual classroom? If not I guess I can wait...

    Take it next term...?

10% drop out during the first week. They just hold on to the course just to be asses. Trust me, you won't have any problems getting into "HUM 102".

HUM 102 has only 48 seats though, and it's in surrey... so that's what I'm worried about. I may never get such a good reg. date again.

And i dunno if 102 will ever be offered with more seats or something.

I prefer the Surrey campus over the Burnaby campus...unless you're looking at commuting times.
If you're only in your first semester I wouldn't worry about it at all. Plenty of time.

    Surrey campus > Burnaby campus

    And ARCH 100 sucks.

I took Hum 102 last spring on the Burnaby campus. So perhaps it'll be offered in Burnaby this spring as well?

I've taken Arch 100 with Jamieson, he was horrible and expected us to read a large amount, yet memorize the most obscure and detailed things for the midterms.

Hum 102 was loads of fun, especially if you already have a previous grounding in mythology, it'll be an easy A. Essays were short paragraphs of 400 words when I took it.

But either way, hope it all works out for you!

SFU Surrey might as well be called Simon Fraser Community College.

i like the surrey campus a lot.. and i wish my class are offered there in fall.. but sadly they aren't.. =( do take hum 102.. i really really enjoyed it and hardly any effort was needed.. all you need to do is read texts that are like story books.. easy A indeed..

Cloudpuppy, how many seats were offered when you took it at the Burnaby campus?

Thanks everyone, I think I'll take the Surrey course... It takes me 45 minutes to go to Burnaby SFU and on translink it says it'll take me an hour to get to Surrey so it's not TOO long.

I only want to take Arch 100 in order to take 226. It says in 226, "Prerequisite: any lower division archaeology or anthropology course." Aren't 200 levels lower division? Can I take 252 as a prerequisite or will I have to take a course with a lower number than 226?

100 and 200 are lower division so id imagine you can take that 200 level class
