Fun Things To Do In Vancouver

edited July 2008 in General
So I have a couple of days off from work and my little sister is done school for the summer too, so we're trying to figure out what to do today. Usually I just go to the movies or play hockey with my friends but I want to do something fun today since we have the whole day. Do you guys have any ideas of fun things to do around Vancouver and what would you suggest? Thanks!

It looks like it's gonna be sunny and hot for the next few days, so why not hit the beach or bike along the seewall? Outdoor pool maybe? If you drive a little farther you can go to Cultus Lake =)

Vancouver sucks. I just don't see why people pay the big bucks to live here. Most livable city my ass.

What are you guys tripping on...I've never seen a more pessimistic bunch. If you have the cash and the creativity to go places, there so much do in Vancouver. If you can't find something to do here then you'll never be happy anywhere...and to understand that you should do a little traveling first before you rag on Vancouver. We have such a variety of Restaurants here, with such good food because of the multi-ethnic communities we have. On top of that we have beaches like Kitsilano, English Bay, White Rock and Crescent. We have the go karts in Richmond (crazy fast and crazy fun). We got Robson street, and lots of malls like Pacific Center, Metrotown, and Coquitlam Shopping Center. Other outdoor stuff: 3 different waterslide parks (Tswassen, Trans Canada, and Cultus)...golf courses everywhere, hiking and mountain biking everywhere, nice lakes, boating, camping, an outdoor movie theater in aldergrove, the greater vancouver zoo, 2 imax theaters, science world, Stanley Park (you can easily spend a day there), tennis courts, UBC, horseback riding, casinos (Starlight is crazy fun) and more

Metro and Coquitlam Centre is overrated. Robson and Pacific is decent.

If you are into that kind of things. If someone mentions Grouse Grind for hiking, I'm going to insult you. If you haven't mountain bike before and show up North Shore with your walmart special, you will die. Lakes and boating isn't for everyone. Camping is fun, but some people are afraid of bugs and whine why they aren't in a posh hotel instead.

Stanley Park is overrated, it's just a bunch of trees.

I agree with you completely. I do a lot of traveling cause of my job and the only place that I actually thought that was better than Vancouver was Newport Beach, Orange County. But then again, the cost of living there is 10x higher than here.

As well, Vancouver has way more hot chicks than many other places I've been.

I usually take my little nieces to Playland or the Vancouver Aquarium...even Capilano Suspension bridge is fun on a nice day.
