SFU 2008 ranking
From wikipedia:
SFU is rated as one of Canada’s top universities as it was ranked 68th in the world and 4th in Canada in 2008 Ranking of World Universities.
--------------------
I'm not sure what the ranking is based on but I was surprised SFU ranked higher than waterloo and mcgill.
What do you guys think?

Oh wait. It's from Wikipedia.
I think one of the most reputable ones is Times Higher Education (although many will say that ANY ranking is biased and not reliable).

From this it looks like SFU is 10th in Canada and 139th in the world, which is pretty good I think considering all the ones above it are older and with med schools (except for Waterloo).
Since america dominates most things (check out fortune 500 companies and see how many are american), we probably know more and have a higher status attached to american universities than canadian ones. Not to mention that stanford students have created name brand things like yahoo and youtube, but who knows, maybe mcgill is better at things that like medicine, or chemistry or law that don't get as much recognition.
Not that I have anything against Spanish people (in fact, I like Paella), but what authority do these Spaniards have in judging how good we are? They are on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, for god sake. Just stick with Flamenco, shut up, and leave the ranking to more reputable organizations in North America.
I MUCH prefer honesty and truth in advertisement, not that SFU needs any because we and UBC pretty much have a monopoly of accredited institute in the lower mainland. Just because I go to SFU we have to accept that SFU is the best in everything? Do yo know what that reminds me of...
