It pisses me off that we have to stress about what classes we are taking the next semester like 2 months before the semester even starts. Here I am cramming for midterms and finals and now I gotta compete to get into classes at the same time SCREW THAT
Yeah, but even planning ahead doesn't help when the class you need is full... ;)
So plan ahead... and have a back-up plan (or two!)
I've come to a realization that there's no point doing any planning too far ahead. (more than a day before you pick your courses) All you need to do is make 2-3 schedules the night before your reg date. At least it's wut I end up doing anyway
okay.. i registered a couple of days ago so here's my sched..
econ 103 bus 272 (someone please tell me anything if you know/heard of cyr) buec 232 math 157 i might drop this to free up my mondays.. X) crim 135 DEd
@ meesh.. wow.. taking macro and micro in one semester? o.O good luck on that.. it's going to be a heavy load..

haha yeah, people kept telling me that before i registered, but i didn't get deterred. if i believe i can do it, i will. lol. i had 5 pretty hefty courses this semester--i ended up completing 7 major essays this semester without going insane. so they can give it, and i'll bring it!
im taking econ 103 + another course through distance ed, and i have my mondays off, hehe it's going to be great.
so im assuming you took econ 105 this semester?? how did that go?
ps. i find math 157 to be pretty low maintenance--depending on how confident you feel with calculus. this is probably the most basic level of calculus though.

wow.. that's alot of essays.. o.O" brownie points for completing them without going insane.. b^^b hahaha..
econ 105 is great.. this is my 2nd time taking it because the first prof i had was horrible.. btw if you ever come across barkin to be your prof.. STAY AWAY!! she's.. incomprehensible.. =.=" i'm taking it with david cox this semester.. A+ prof.. great textbook.. awesome lecturer.. i mean what i can say.. i didn't fall asleep even for one class.. LOL.. X) so i highly recommend you take it with him..
the thing about math 157 is.. i am an absolute dummy with math.. T_T and i've seen some of my friends failing in that class so that kinda spooked me.. if i get lucky and land with a good prof then i'll take it.. if not it can wait.. =)
The math department is full of too many profs that think it's fun to show off and use all the fancy lingo in mathematical proofs and theorems, instead of just saying "this is used for (x)".
If you can get Justin Gray (he's cute  ), or Adriana Wise, or Ralf Wittenberg, you'll be all right. They all have clear explanatory styles, even if Gray is a bit wooden and pedestrian in his classes. Steven Ruuth is boring. He teaches straight out of the textbook.
Honestly, if I were talking to intended science majors, I'd say do the first year of math courses at a college and transfer into university. At least at Langara College, the math department there doesn't have professors that want to show off that they know what a lemma is. I had two very good ones at Langara, and they immensely helped me gain a good understanding of differential and integral calculus.

yay! I have David Cox for econ 105 next semester! i was nervous as to whether he would be good or not (as i've heard some pretty awful experiences with the class) but now i'm relieved!
is this the first math course you're thinking of taking? i think even if you're not great at math (btw, don't put urself down like that! hehe), the class is helpful for economic/business type courses (like finding max profits, elasticity, etc, etc). personally, i think if you work hard and spend time on the work, you will do fine. do you which professor you'll be getting? I had Steven Choi as the prof and Justin Gray as our workshop coordinator. i think they're both great. Prof. Choi doesn't go overboard with terms you don't understand. i think he's very straight forward with what he teaches. Justin Gray, like nukechem said, is so cute...you just WANT to go to him for help hahaha.
and in math 157, if you're really keen on actually learning in that class, i suggest sitting at the very front of the lecture hall...i'm not sure if it's just my class, but people can't shut their mouths...even for a minute...
Also, if you think you might want to switch majors, Math 154/155 are apparently a good middle ground between the 151/152 tracks and the 157/158 tracks.
yeah... hahaha.. justin is definitely a delicious piece of eye candy.. X) but i just walked past him the other day and he was shorter than i expected.. o.O"
i have a prof named Tom Archibald for math 157 and i'm trying to find info about him.. but apparently no one really knows so i'm kinda worried if i'm going to have to repeat like i did with econ if i get a bad prof.. =\ if worse comes worse i'll just drop it and have a free monday instead.. lol.. math can wait... XP

i'm thinking of taking summer courses, if you're up for it, they're probably offering a summer term for math.
Hooray for Math =p
