My GPA was better with 5 actually.
buddy, your first mistake was listening to the academic adviser. I did that and ended up taking two pairs of the hardest courses i have ever taken in my life because they "recommend that everyone do them in their first year".
Even though I personally took 5 courses in my first semester, however I believe that it would be wise of you take only four. Afterall, you are already going to take two 200-level courses in your first semester. Given the fact that you probably wouldn't be too familiar with course expectation, you should really take only four.
Unless the courses are notoriously hard or require lots of constant work, you should be fine.
You need 40 courses to graduate so if you take at least 10 a year, you should be able to finish in 4 years.
Are you going to major in ling?
three courses is just way too little, especially if you do not have a job or work very little.
plus the pre reqs i had forced me to take two first year english courses anyway, but i wish i had taken them first semester rather than afterwards
