New York

*Sings Sinatra's New York New York*

So who has been here before? I am going at the end of August for a week before orientation training starts. I am starting to plan my trip and I am trying to make sure I got all the important stuff I can do in my short time there.

I will be going to a Yankees game and a taping of David Letterman for sure.

With all my other time I am going to do all the touristy letterman stuff.

Any suggestions?

I've been there but I regret not having nearly enough time to do everything. I did go see a Broadway musical (Rent) and it was totally worth it. You can get cheaper tickets in the middle of Times Square.

AHH I fricken love New York. I went there last summer in July right after Independence Day during the heat wave. It was scorchin'!

    Do all the touristy stuff.
    - Broadway -- 1/2 price tix at tkts (not sure if they rebuilt it yet.. but it was at the Mariott last year)
    - Empire State building
    - Night time bus tour (seeing the skyline at night is so beautiful)
    - Statue of Liberty
    - Madame Tussaud Wax Museum
    - Rockafeller Centre
    - Tour of NBC Studios
    - Street food. Total must-do...er, eat.
    etc.

    If you have time...
    - Coney Island (amusement park)
    - Carmines. Awesome pasta place that won't let you in at dinner without 3 or more people
    - Shopping in SoHo
    - Monday night oldschool movies at Bryant Park at 8:00pm
    - Little Italy/Korea. GREAT authentic Korean food in Little Korea
    - 24/7 ferry ride to Staten Island
    - Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge
    - Anthropoligie. Fucking huge amazing store. 'Nuff said.
    - Trump towers!

Have fun! And take your time. I saw all the main touristy stuff in 4 days. Not enough time.

they also jacked up the prices since its the last season they'll be playing in that stadium, so its definitely not worth it if you'll just walk out early bored to tears
that and I'm not so sure if tickets will be easy to come by anyways

Bleacher seating at Yankee Stadium is $14 but they only sell those tickets on game day which are the ones that I am going to try and get.

I would like to do Spam-a-lot and maybe see the UN Building.

When i went to NYC I also went to the UN Building, it's freakin' awesome! I'm a UN nerd lol. I also checked out Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, it's soo creepy how real they looked, i loved it. Also if you like shopping, the Fashion District was a fun place to go walk around, but I'm a huuuge dessert person and I love anything italian so one of the bakeries I went to was i think Ferrara Bakery & Cafe, it has an ice cream cone outside their bakery so you can't miss it; best cannolies everr!! And of course the traditional tourist things to do but I developed a penchant for Little Italy and I want to go back!
