ummm... I'm surprised nobody has said this yet here (well unless I missed it) but I just took FPA 104 this semester, and as long as you have any sort of music background (and if you're asian chances are that your parents made you learn piano or violin) it should be a breeze. i went to the first 2 lectures and that's about it. tutorials are more important though. it's probably the easiest that I will ever take in university >_>
LING 110 with Yourie Pankratz - just remember rules, do practice questions, and you can do well HSCI 130 with Rochelle Tucker - memorization from slides and some reading.. about half the class got A on the midterm and assignments were easy

yup same here. only went to a certain lectures to hand in my assignment which was done half assed...went to tutorials to get participation and take the quiz...and went to my final 30 minutes late and i ended up with a B+. I had a musical background so that helped alot...but point being its not a hard course if u got a musical background and if u got the TA i got *bald guy* he basically tells u wuts on the quiz.
Do you guys thing CMPT 110 is easy, intro to visual basic programming? I have a pretty good knowledge of windows and networking, but never done any programing codes, could this be a gpa booster? p.s im taking it as "distance education"
all i heard in computer science is if you choose courses with greg baker you will be doing a lot of work, learning but a lot of work so not good for GPA

SA-357 easiest gpa booster ever granted its with Cindy Patton my god its easy SOOOOOOOOOOO EASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSY HOOOOOOOOOOLY IT IS EASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSY this group did their presentation, no one could understand what they were saying, they didn't finish, and they still got a B+ lol
i heard CMPT 165 with ann lavergne was easy as my best friend took it and got a B+, Im taking it with greg baker and lets just say im not having the best of luck ... ;)

what! Greg was pretty good, actually the labs take less than 5-10mins to do (for CMPT 120) and the projects take about 20min-1h (assuming no prior programming knowledge) I’ll admit though the final project is more difficult but it’s always something that even with a partial solution u get a lot of marks, I had it working within 2h but then I spent another ~4h to perfect it and make it run as fast and efficiently as possible and I only put in the time cuz it was an interesting project his exams are easy too, I didn’t study for any of them and ended up with an A in the class...
Everyone I know in computing science calls CMPT 165 a joke. However, a friend of mine in the arts recently took it in distance ed and received a C-. She is the studious type and receives average grades.
I'm not going to take it because I don't need extra 1xx credits. But I am wondering, are computing science kids pompous smart asses, are some people just computer inept, or is the course just plain difficult to those not in computing science?

it seems to me that the class is divided into 2 groups:
#1 Arts people who take it as a science credit (or Q or whatever) and end up struggling #2 CS majors who laugh their asses off at #1
If I know nothing about making webpages, websites, or html, would cmpt 165 be difficult?
i think it really depends, i went in with no experience and so did my friend, she gave me a copy of her sample midterm and it was WAY easier than the midterm i got, i used hers as a partial study guide and was blown away by gregs, i got like 75% or something
my mark isnt reflecting my effort cause i put a lot of time into some of the assignments and im normally a B or A student...either way i regret taking the course in the context of me being able to choose another course i coulda done better in
how is Ling 100? Im taking it as a gpa booster... is it easy? hard? if its hard, what course do you recommend i take instead?
I took it with Chung-Hye Han and it was easy. Interesting too. It's mostly memorization if you're good with that stuff.
I'm taking CMPT 165 in the summer and I've heard mixed reviews on the course... =S Some people who don't have comp. sci. experience thought it was easy and some who have some html background thought it was brutal. Apparently the first half of the course is a breeze, but the rest of the material is more difficult to grasp? Anyway, I hope I'm going to do okay...

Logic is one of those things where you either get it or you don't (but the lovely part is you could learn to get it), it just happens that the vast majority of people who get it is in one of the science disciplines which make use of it already, which is why it seems like there's such a huge gap between the compsci students and everyone else.
