taking a few years off

edited June 2008 in General
I got RTW and I will be back to SFU by next term(fall). If I come back to school, then I still will be on probation for the first term.

the problem is.. I should go back to Korea to finish the military service for 2 years.

Is it possible to take off right after I get readmitted?

i dono what the rules are in Korea but… In my country back when we were under communism (which was based off the north Korean version becuz our 'commander and chief' :P visited Korea b4 losing his mind)
we were excused from military service if we attended university, the catch being to go serve the 2 years after graduating (or failing) university ...

i think you can, just bring it up with student services as a "extenuating circumstance"

you can take up to 8 months off in a row

see if you can break the 2 years into 3 x 8 months

I took 5 years off (that's right, last semester i was at SFU was Spring 2003). All I had to do this summer was to submit the online "Application for Reactivation" form. My fall registration appt is July 15. I did not make any arrangements in 2003 - just did not register for any courses. I'm super eager to get back to school - now I actually know precisely where and how I'll be applying the knowledge. I feel much more motivated than when I first started studies right after high school :teeth:
