Help with major.

edited April 2008 in General
After this semester, I don't think I can get into business anymore. I am super lost. I thought I was gonna get in until i took XX1... and other courses which people said was easy but really isn't...
anyways.. so i am looking into majoring in Econ. Since i have most of the requirments.

What are my options with an Econ degree ? is there really no way out with an arts degree? Sorry if i am offending any1... but really, i have not looked into a second choice.. bad move on my part..

well first of all dont give up on business (if that is ultimately what u are aiming for), u can retake courses to re up the gpa a bit if thats what's holding u back

secondly, econ isn't as easy as u may think, nor is it as closely related to business as it may seem

and lastly if u are just tryin to avoid an arts degree, there is still sciences and applied sciences

many of the lower division courses are applicable in other majors so look into those as well

how do you know it's phil xx1?

and about the arts degree, there's plenty of options with arts, don't listen to the science elitists.

    tried science..
there is not much options left for me

science... iono.. 2 of my co-workers have ubc science degrees.. and i still boss them around at work. cuz they spent all their time studying with no work expeirence.. come out of school.. with a blank piece of paper.. and let a 2nd year student boss them around

phil xx1 is one of those classes you either get or you don't get. its the only class i've ever taken where the material and how to approach it clicks or it doesn't. it doesn't mean that you won't be able to handle business or that you'll find other "easy" classes hard. i wouldn't give up.

btw when people refer to sciences boys theyre talking about the natural sciences not computer science ;)

    isn't philxx1 just a watered-down version of phil110?

Computing Science has the word Science in it, ergo, it is a science which is still better than any arts course :P

I don't know... they're usually talking about those guys that can use computers. Cause you know, Jimmy Neutron the science boy is also a proficient programmer and engineer in addition to being a genius physicists.
