SFU transfer?
Hello there,
I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and can effectively guide me through this.
I am planning on going into Pharmacy. I'm sure most (if not all) of you know that SFU doesn't exactly have a Pharmacy program. UBC however, does.
I was just wanting to know, if I was planning on say transferring into UBC after my initial year at SFU (or perhaps my second) is this completely doable?
The reason why I chose SFU over UBC in the first place was because of it's location (honestly, taking a bus from Coquitlam to UBC doesn't exactly equate to fun).
So, just wondering if this is doable or do I *sigh* have to take a bus from my area to UBC every morning :( ?
Thanks.

But honestly? If I had the option of going to UBC straight away I'd just do that. Why risk wasting a couple of years because of a simple matter such as commuting. It's not that bad anyways, I get lots of reading done during my 50 minute commute to school.
UBC science -> UBC Pharmacy = hard
SFU science -> UBC Pharmacy = even harder.
from what i've heard, it's hard to get into pharmacy from sfu because the program usually accepts more students from their own school...so i'd say go to UBC straight away since you'll have a higher probability of getting accepted. keep in mind you also need lots of extracurriculars, high gpa, high PCAT scores either way. ALSO, even if the commute to UBC is long, at least their campus is very active so there are a lot of volunteering activities you can do at school to fulfill those extracurricular requirements...
Oh and i want to add, if you do decide to come to SFU first then transfer to UBC it is VITAL you go see advisors at UBC in person--don't phone in...sometimes they give the wrong info. Believe me, it fucked me over last year. lol
