An Insane Venture: "Heading Back" to College
Hi Talksfuers,
Sorry I disappeared for so long. As well as being clogged up with papers and stuff, I was also hesitant to post here for a while after I blew my identity during our last meet up. Still, I am back and I need your help...
As you all may know, I am a history/ humanities double major. However, I am not too satisfied with the stuff SFU is offering. Shopping around, I found that Kwantlen got some pretty sweet history courses and they, according to Kwantlen, can be transfered back to SFU. I am therefore planning to get into Kwantlen in Summer 09, take some History courses there, and transfer them all back to SFU. Here are my questions...
1.) Can I even do this?
2.) Since I am there solely for the History courses and not planning to graduate from there, do I still need to fulfill some of their graduation requirements? (ex: Their version of the WQB requirement.)
3.) Specifically to all the Kwantlen alumni, does Kwantlen also got registration problem like SFU? I don't want to "degrade" myself for nothing.
4.) Let's just say that I green-light this little venture, may I also take courses at SFU while at the same time taking courses in Kwantlen? I am doing this solely for the U-Pass.
5.) Will the Imbeciles working at the Registrar and Admission office mistaken me for a newly transfered student and give me a shi* registration date like what they gave Randomuser.
7.) Is this a bright thing to do?

6.) Currently, I am specifically eyeing this course in Kwantlen called History 4470 (Warrior of Japan: The Samurai). According to the BC transfer guide, this course count as SFU HIST 4XX (3). So, I just get credit for a course in the 400 level?randomuser;24845 said:What the fudge, Im seriously pissed! My cgpa is over 3.0 and credits over 60 but because I'm a transfer student my reg date gets fudged right up.
7.) Is this a bright thing to do?

If you want to remain a SFU student while taking these classes at Kwantlen, you will need to fill out a LOP (letter of permission) and get that approved from SFU.(FYI - you need to have a valid reason in order for them to approve this). Once you get this approved, you shouldn't have a problem taking classes at SFU at the same time. Some faculties do have restrictions on this though, not too sure about History but I know that Business does not allow it unless there are extenuating circumstances.
I don't think that you will need to fulfill any of there graduation requirements because (from what I understand) you only intend to be there for one semester.
Kwantlen registration has its issues, I don't think that its nearly as bad at SFU. It is also largely based on number of credits completed, so I'm not sure exactly where you will stand as a new transfer student.
And yep HIST 4XX just means that you will get 3 credits for an unspecified 4th year History course.
