ling 110 help needed assignment #1

How do you find the direct source and ultimate source, and how do you know if two words are cognates, and how do you find the Latin/Greek version of an English word?

    If you're with mcfetridge... Look up the back of the book. There's an index.

    You can also look in the dictionary...

    you can try webster's dictionary.. they have latin/greek distinctions listed there.. and i apologize but i can't rmb what cognates are without flipping back to my notes.. and i'm too tired to go look for it now..

    ^he's the one who wrote the CC for ling 110.. so yeah i'd imagine him to know what he's lecturing abt..=)

    One time, mcfetridge posted the answer key on his assignment site.
    Most people who found out aced it. Not sure whether he did this to boost the average up or not... but he's a good prof.
