What do they mean, campus may RE-OPEN ?

edited January 2008 in General
1230 classes may or nay not be cancelled and we will find out in 17 minutes? Id like to just go back to sleep now, I dont want to get ready to go to school if I dont have to.

Shower, eat, brush teeth, get dressed, flat iron hair, then do hair. This was going to be my dream come true, I thought I was dreaming still when I woke up, this is more like a nightmare now, please I dont want to die going up that hill  !!!

This is discrimination if they reopen campus, why do people who take tuesday classes get so lucky :( Its not my fault my lecture was on wednesday, this will go straight to a human rights tribunal

they really need to get things right... if school is closed, make sure its closed for sure. If it's gonna open, make sure it will stay open!... gosh, they should fire whoever that giving out that bullshit

even if it reopens now so many people wont go, because when i first checked it, it said nothing about reopening then 10 mins later it did im sure plenty of people went back to sleep like i was about to

When do we know..it's past 10:30.
Apparently there is still light snowfall.
Is the SFU site down? Loading pretty slowly for me.

How we supposed to find out if it doesnt work. WTF.

there are shitload of people going to the web address at the same time, probably overloaded the site, and webmail too
  • edited January 2008
this is a good reason why you dont tell people to check at a certain time and just make a judgement call

AS OF 12:00 PM, THE SFU BURNABY CAMPUS WILL BE OPEN, HOWEVER ALL AFTERNOON CLASSES WILL BE CANCELLED. PLEASE CHECK THE SITE REGULARLY FOR UPDATED INFORMATION. ***

They better make the decision of whether opening/closing the campus soon. It takes me one and a half hour to get to SFU.
  • edited January 2008
So does that mean all classes today will be cancelled? What about the night classes..!!

But then I suppose if classes are closed now, it would close later due to the temperature drop later in the day.. and perhaps more snow.

It looks like there will be no class for this afternoon.

    CAMPUS UPDATE

SFU's Burnaby campus is reopening this afternoon, effective at noon.
HOWEVER, because of continuing traffic and road problems in the Lower Mainland, there will

be NO CLASSES at Burnaby for the rest of the day.
The Vancouver and Surrey campuses are open for classes as usual.
The Burnaby childcare centre is closed for the rest of the day.
As of 11 a.m. roads to and on the Burnaby campus were mostly clear, although with some

slushy spots. Buses are running, but are subject to delays. Anyone planning to go up or down

Burnaby Mountain should drive with caution—and good snow tires.
The forecast is for rain tonight, and for some more flurries on the mountain. To find out if the

Burnaby campus will be fully open in the morning, check this website at 5 a.m.
You can check road conditions any time at the SFU Road Conditions page at

http://www.sfu.ca/security/sfuroadconditions/. Or call the Road Conditions phone line at 604-

    444-4929.

No class in the afternoon, campus open.

Tonight it will rain, but flurries up on the mountain.

... that's just the same as no school....

I'm at the Surrey Campus, which stayed open and it's snowing pretty heavily. Half the parking lots are closed and it's a complete mess here. Half the people in my class didn't even show up.

What the heck is that supposed to mean; school is open but classes are cancelled? Tutorials aren't still running are they?
  • edited January 2008
