3.5+ is pretty much a guaranteed in unless you screwed up 210 or some of the other stat courses really badly. There are plenty of people with cgpa lower than that who gets in but if you are <3.0 than your chances are really low.

im juz curious...why it seems like some people are so into actuarial science. what's so good about it? does it guarantee you'll be rich if you take this career?

Haha I think we are just idiots who are into self-mutilation. You probably won't get too rich, but you definitely won't starve either. Looking back, I think I got sucker into it because they made it seem like such a cool career: use mathematics to measure, reduce, and manage risk!!! I don't think it is too good of a career if you intend on staying in Vancouver or Canada. The Canadian job market is very small and saturated--UT, Waterloo, Laval, and other universities out east generate a lot of actuarial students with work experience. The demand for entry level candidates in Vancouver is very low; you'll need to stand out and have good communication skills to get a job just somewhere in Canada.

Oh I forgot to answer part of the OP's question. My cgpa going into the program was >4.

I just finished all my degree requirement last semester. I've done three terms of co-op and will be starting full-time work in Vancouver; I'll be in life.
