help with firstclass

edited January 2008 in General
is anyone taking distance ed this semester? i've used the firstclass before but for some reason they aren't providing the CD for installation anymore and instead asks you to go to this site and download it http://www.sfu.ca/code/sr/downloads.html i don't know if i'm seeing things but doesn't it just take you right back to the CODE homepage? @_@ i've clicked around and even tried logging on from CODE onto firstclass but it's not working.. what to do? i don't want to be behind on my course already.. =(

    It downloaded for me...
My DE class is pretty messed up right now though. I guess working out the kinks. This is the first time my TA has done a DE course too...fantastic.

it seems like the CDE homepage shows up a brief moment before it redirects you to the downloads page. perhaps something in your browser is preventing the redirect?

anyway, i copied the link to the FC .exe file:
    http://www.sfu.ca/code/docs/FC8315US.exe
    (i'm assuming you're using Windows)

I clicked on the link you provided and it seems to be working now. Just wondering, what are you taking? If it is Canadian Studies, drop it!

hmm.. the link still doesn't work.. i've waited for the redirect for 5 minutes now and it's not directing.. i guess it really doesn't like me.. =( lol.. i use firefox and not explorer.. would that be the reason why it's not working?

thanks meesh for the link!! ^__________^

@student: i'm taking crim classes so no worries.. =)

    heheh no problem.
as for why the page isn't showing up for you i have no idea why. I don't think it's a browser compatibility issue-- i used Safari and Firefox and it worked just fine.

It is not that complicated, you just attach your work in their mailing system and send it.

I was told by others that it does strange things to your computer and that it is just overall difficult to use.

I wouldnt know. As i said, ive never had to use it.

You guys sound like me over the weekend! Like 10 days ago, I was able to log in to firstclass simply via the link (firstclass.sfu.ca/login or whatever) and all of a sudden the webpage stopped working!!

I figured out how to download it and then it was a bitch logging in. I was sitting there over and over again as it tried to tell me that my student username doesn't exist when it's the same one I've had since I started. It finally worked after all that ...but I much prefer WebCT. firstClass looks kind of ghetto, very windows 98 if you will LOL

i agree with baby e.. apparently after your usage you can't delete it completely.. eg: you still have a firstclass file around even after you uninstalled/deleted everything..
