Question about school hours/sleeping

edited December 2007 in General
Ok, So I have an exam tomorrow and I think it would be easier to go to SFU early and sleep so i don't have to sit in traffic...

Question 1:
Is the school always open? If i get there around 6am or so?
Where is a good place to sleep, lol.

Yeah, all the main buildings are open twenty-four seven. I have ridden a bike through the AQ at four in the morning one day. As for sleep, try the Comp Sci common room in the ASB, they have couches, just shut the door and turn off the lights and you are good to go.

and the ASB is where... lol

hahaha I used to skate through school on my roller blades in the middle of the night last summer. it was a pretty good way to get around until one day I started rolling down the hill and had to bail into some bushes to finally stop.

anyways, yes, the school is open all the time but the library and computer labs are not. ASB is the building you walk into when you come through those sliding doors en route from B lot. I didn't know that the comp sci common room is open all the time though, but if it is, it's basically the left wall of the coffee shop kiosk 30 seconds after you walk into the building.

actually another good place to nap is under images (under the stairs) i've seen people camped out there with a pillow and a blanket. I usually like to come the night before an exam due to the traffic in the mornings (if I have a friends house I can crash at)

How do people not know where the ASB is yet most people walk through it every day? And yes, their common room is open all the time.

Do you know the name of every building you walk through?

under the stairs... you mean the area with the tables across from the lap top station thing?

I dont walk through the ASB at all. I didnt know where it was until Spring when i asked someone what the hell they were talking about when they said "ASB".

How can you sleep in open public like that tho? I'd be so afraid that someone would rob me or something.

If you're gonna be there at 6am, maybe find an empty lecture hall to nap in??

ps Kevin: that is the best thing ive heard in a long time! Rollerblading through the school in the middle of the nite?!? I totally wanna do it now, i cant believe i didnt think of it myself. I once went through the halls of my highschool with my friend on those rolley chairs....its was a lot of fun until a teacher came out and yelled at us and then we bailed and ran as fast as we could!

    Sigh.. I'll end the confusion.

The ASB, or Applied Science Building, is located at the east end of campus. It is near the B-Lot, Cornerstone, and the top Bus loop. In the ASB, you'll find a corner that has a Renaissance cafe (not the main one, this one is smaller). The CSSS common room is right next to that mini cafe. It's on the south side.

Yes I do know the name of every building I walk through.

Let's see, there is the WMX, MBC, the Library and Convo Mall, AQ, Education Building, RBC, ASSC1, ASSC2 (being built), TASC1, TASC2, and the ASB and the Shrum Science Centres.

Sleeping in your car is a good idea actually, I've done that too. Just bring a blanket with you because it gets really cold at night, especially outside in a car. The good thing is that the windows fog up so people can't see you, and you will wake up at the first crack of dawn. AND you will have the best parking spot

too bad it won't happen next semester, any "good" parking spot in the new G lot for me will still be 2x the walking distance
