GPA Boosters
I'm just finishing what I believe to be that hardest semester i've ever had at sfu. And i feel that I deserve an easier semester for Spring 08. Can anyone recommend any either:
A) Courses that are challenging but u get a good mark
B) Courses that are easy and get good mark?
A course that fulfills the B-Hum requirement would also be good.
Fank you!

stats-203 is like math 12, but easier, if you took high school in BC.
agree with crim 101 too.
i missed my mid-term and i got a B, haha
I got an A- in that class.
You think you can just take an easy class and raise your grade and all will be well? It's not that simple my friend. A class can appear to be easy and then you get an asshole professor who doesn't like you or his/her grading scheme is not in accordance with your studying habits or something or the assignments in the class are essays (and maybe you suck at writing). Don't trust that shit and just work hard in every class (create your own GPA boosters if you will), end of story.
I recommended it to a few friends from high school but they found it really difficult. Don't ask me how..
you can do that right, lol
the material itself is definitely easy enough that u can do it all at home w/o much help
I'm looking for an easy B-Sci course as well. CMPT165 seems to be the way to go, but I can't decide between distance ed or taking it on campus...
Read this page. Specifically, the 3 tutorials on the top left: HTML, XHTML, and CSS.
I estimate that covers just over half the course. I don't know for sure because I only went to a few of the classes and played games on my laptop when I did go.
Anyways, if you can follow those tutorials with no trouble, take it by correspondence. If you need someone to teach you, don't do distance ed.
You get this study guide book, and each chapter you read you have an exercise or an assignment.
If you read the study guide and do all the exercises, you'll definitely get a good mark.
Oh yeah, each exercise takes 10 minutes tops, and assignments take longer (but they're worth more so that makes sense; it's like 5 small exercises put together)
I completely forgot to do one assignment. -10% right there. That caused me to go from an A+ to a B+ and all it would have taken was 30 minutes of time.
BTW, Did you go to STA Vonnie?
I already have a pretty good knowledge of XHTML/CSS and know a reasonable amount of JS , and PHP/mysql
Oh. It's Cory hahaha Hi.
I find this course very difficult, I think I have spent more time on this course than I have on any other thing. Sometimes it takes me an entire day to do an assignment or exercise. For example, last week, for Exercise 4, I spent FIVE HOURS trying to debug ONE TINY PROBLEM in my Python program, absolutely ridiculous! I feel that there is so much to learn in the course in such a small amount of time, because coupling it with all the other things you have to do and courses you are taking was a big mistake for me. The main reason I took it was for the B-Sci credit, but I also wanted to take it because I do have a strong interest in computers and I really wanted to learn how to make webpages, which I did. One good thing that came from this course though was I learned a TREMENDOUS amount, more then I ever thought I would, about computers and the Internet and programming, etc. It's all quite fascinating to me but at the same time I find it very difficult.
I think another reason though WHY I find it so difficult is because I am taking it by distance-ed, which is not my style and I have NEVER gotten an e-mail response back from the prof whenever I have asked him something, which is definately NOT my style either. The TA's are quite helpful though and easy markers.
Also, when I looked up the professor on RateMyProfessor.com, some people, actually, many people, described this course as NOT being suit for a first year course and some people even said it was harder than second-year calculus, which somewhat amazes me.
So, from what I say I don't recommend taking it distance ed unless you can do that sort of thing.
Also, vonnie how are you doing on Assignment 4? I started it today and its gonna be hectic.
I was also planning on taking four courses on campus, but maybe I'll have to reconsider that if it's as much work as you say it is!
